I just ran across this article, What's Our Food Identity, and was pretty stunned to see them actually include us in the list of movers and shakers who are moving the US in a positive direction. It's brief mention albeit but I want to cry tears of joy. I'm so happy for any positive validation in the press I can't help but be happy. I really just wanted to share the article but since I need a question how about what's your reaction to the article? Does something like this make you feel better about the impact we're having on building a better life for all? It really does for me.

I used to think that paleo was eeking it's way into mainstream thought.

Now I'd say it's E-X-P-L-O-D-I-N-G!

Evidence: Three out of the top five nutrition books on Amazon are paleo books! The other two books are so dumb that they don't stand a chance in the long haul. Well, they shouldn't, at least. Note that this is out of hundreds and hundreds of nutrition books on Amazon.

  1. The China Study, T. Colin Campbell
  2. Why We Get Fat, Gary Taubes
  3. The Paleo Solution, Robb Wolf
  4. Eat Right 4 Your Type, Peter Adamo
  5. The Paleo Diet Cookbook, Loren Cordain

Every positive step forward, no matter how big or small is welcomed! I think the momentum is building but I am waiting for big business to stick it's greedy fingers into the paleo pie, it will happen *le sigh.

u think the more stories like this that come out, the skeptical way that we look at neolithic foods will not seem as out there... http://www.healthyamericans.org/report/88/

I found this article really interesting.

I'm a Brit and I am lucky enough to have a mum who bought the family up on variety in the kitchen. As a kid I was always encouraged to try new foods and on rainy days in the summer holidays (not as often as you might think in England lol) she'd get me and my sisters cooking rather than watching TV.

So I did know a lot about American dishes such as Clam Chowder, Jambalaya, Pumpkin Pie and Blueberry pie. Ok some of these are influenced from other parts of the world - but then that's testament to the US's immigration history.

Now the foods above (or versions of them) are not exactly Paleo but I have to say since cooking the recipes mentioned in Paleo forums and in cookbooks written by people like Mark Sissons, it's really opened our eyes to some great American dishes.

You probably know that Brits love their roast dinners, especially for Sunday lunch but we never considered having Creamed Kale or Mashed Parsnips to accompany the meat, and we love them. Even my mother in law who is not Paleo and sometimes adverse to trying new things has not stopped raving about these 'new' ideas.

OK so I don't know if these dishes are truly from the US but as far as I'm concerned they were in a cookbook from the states and that's good enough for me, so long as we all keep an open mind and accept healthy good food from all countries and cultures our meal times need never be boring.

Sorry for such a long answer, I was excited. :D

Paul.

Here's a good article that really is positive.

The only thing that made me squirm a little was "lean meats" and "less saturated fats."
