Been doing pretty well on the 30 day challenge, charting everything I eat. Have had NO grains, hardly any dairy, which has been minimal cheese. I am a very fit guy and carry alot of muscle. Should I just be more patient??

Help

stop looking at the scale and use a mirror and camera. One pound either way doesn't matter. That's water prolly. Everyone's weight fluctuates this way every single day of their lives. Do not use a scale, its irrelevant. – ben61820 Jul 12 2011 at 12:34

Are you doing the whole30 challenge? To quote from http://whole9life.com/2011/06/whole-30-v4/

One last and final rule. You are not allowed to step on the scale during your Whole30 program.

I think it's a good rule for all the reasons people have mentioned. The real tests are mirror and how your clothes fit.

yes you need to be more patient!! as Ben says weight goes up and down daily, could be as much as 3lbs.

Are you working out while doing the challenge? that could affect you as you are building heavier muscle mass.

If you really want people to check your diet, post a full typical days worth of food......

yeah, "charting everything I eat" isn't going to get us any closer to being able to help. And if the OP is going to do it, why not just do it. Stop eating dairy. Full stop. Its 30 days, 60 days, whatever - if you wanna do something, do it. Don't be all "well, I'm pretty strict...". You're never gonna know if something works for you IF YOU DON'T ACTUALLY DO IT. – ben61820 Jul 12 2011 at 12:45

A pint of water weighs a pound. There's no way you can guarantee you are at the exact same level of hydration every time you weigh in. I can easily lose 5 lbs of water overnight if I'm in ketosis (dry Colorado air doesn't help much either) - which I gain right back when I rehydrate in the morning.

Most consumer grade scales are only accurate to 2 lbs or so (even though they trick you by reporting digits to the tenth of a pound).

When you account for all the errors and uncertainty in the measurement. It's best to just round the number you see to the nearest 5 lbs and call it good.

Plus as everyone else says: throw away the scale, it's really a dumb measure. Go by how you look and feel.

I didnt weigh myself again intill after day 30 and had lost between 15-20 pounds.. Now I am doing another 30 day and will not weigh again untill after this 30 days.. Will be 60 days of strict Paleo..Dont worry so much about numbers and charts .. Eat the food your body needs and keep active ..Your body will begin to show you its working..
