I started this Paleo diet the beginning of Jan /14. I purchased the Beginners book as well as other stuff. Under the list of dont eat it says Fruit- dark berries! No other fruit is mentioned yet one of the first recipes in the book is for baked bananas. Its a confusing list for beginners! I also have not lost one pound.
To answer your question regarding which fruits are okay to eat -- almost all fruits are good for consumption whether or not you're eating paleo. A quick google search sends me to this table which shows the sugar contents of various fruits. You do not want to consistently consume fruits or else your sugar intake will be rather high. However, I wouldn't worry too much. :)
As for your weight concern, there are various factors at play when you begin the paleo diet. The diet isn't a cureall that will magically fix any weight/health issues immediately. I've spoken with people who eat paleo and didn't notice results for a few months. The human body is a rather complicated system so it's difficult to pinpoint the causal mechanism behind certain problems. I would recommend continuing your diet if you feel good. If you're feeling physically worse, it might be useful to reconsider what you're doing. Perhaps you could post some of the foods/meals you eat daily?
Also, do you work out?
I agree, all of them are allowed. But I would opt for the savory ones over the sweet ones as they tend to be less sugary. Examples: cucumbers and pickles, zucchini and most squashes, tomatoes, eggplants, avocados, olives, peppers and lemons just to name a few. All of these fruits are delicious, yet quite low in sugar.
