For MTHFR, are the B12, folate found in liver or egg yolks already methylated? And does cooking damage them? Or are supplements needed?
I started on methylfolate in the AM and methyl B12 at night, and have noticed some improvements in sleep and overall health, but was wondering about the forms available through food. (Doing the Jarrow 400mcg methylfolate and Jarrow 1000mcg methyl-B12.) I suppose, since it's working, I should continue the supplementation, but if it's in food, I can always increase my liver/yolk intake too...
I've got this double SNP variant, but it's heterozygous, so not as bad: http://www.snpedia.com/index.php/Gs192
That snpedia link has a link to http://www.mthfrheds.com/ which after going over I realized immediately it applied to me. I do see some white spots on skin (vitiligo), as well as the hyper joint mobility and the purple stretch marks. As a party trick, I can even bend the very first joint of my fingers - most folks can only bend at the 2nd joint.
On the upside, if someone calls me a m*th*f****, I can smile and proudly say, yes, I am! :)
