It's possible that there's no one on the board from Jacksonville. A good way around that is to either get in touch with some of the growers from the links below or go to the local farmers markets, check out the quality and get to know people. They can turn you on to other good farmers. – Karen Jul 17 2011 at 18:28

Try localharvest.org. Great resource for everything that is local, natural food.

Thanks I did but I was hoping for a closer source than some of those that are listed. – paleoprimal Jul 17 2011 at 1:15

I guess I should have been more clear, I am looking for "oh I use Joe at such and such farms, tell him Jim sent you" More of a specific recommendation... thanks! – paleoprimal Jul 17 2011 at 17:55
Wish I could help but I am in South Florida, not many paleo people in Florida period. What you can do is try and find your local Weston Price chapter and they can recommend local farms and sometimes they even know the farmers personally. – Alicia Jul 17 2011 at 19:02

Hey Theresa, I am in Orange Park and in the same boat as you. I have been to a farm in Starke, Cognito Farm, that raises cattle, swine, and chickens, but I have not purchased from them yet. I did the tour of their farm and was really impressed, but I do not have the freezer space to make a major purchase yet (which is what I eventually want to do).

I know you're looking for something more specific, but check out http://slowfoodfirstcoast.com/farms.html for some places that are local for us.

Good luck to you! 8)

Thanks Ali, I looked at Cognito Farms on one of the links but wasnt sure of the quality since they arent registered with the usda. I wasnt sure if that was a big deal or not but considering i would be feeding my family and not just myself i didnt want to risk it. I will check out the other link. Thanks.. if you have any recipes to share I would love that too! – paleoprimal Jul 18 2011 at 14:31

I am a Chef and Nutrition Coach who teaches and practices a Paleo Diet. I buy grass fed meat from JD Beef at Riverside Arts Market on Saturdays. You can also find him online. I offer Organic, Paleo meals delivered twice a week in Jacksonville that are gluten, lactose and soy free. More info here- http://spacuisine.ezchef.net. I also offer Nutrition Coaching.
