Hi everyone, I've been making cauliflower rice (following the recipe from "Against All Grain" and only on one occasion was it amazing and tasty.....the other occasions it tasted strange, bitter and just inedible. The other day as I was cooking the cauliflower there was a strange chemical type smell and sure enough the finished product tasted horrible.
This has nothing to do with the recipe but the cauliflower itself.....has anyone experienced this? How can I deal with this?
Thanks in advance xx
It may come down to the cauliflower itself. Around where we are, my husband got me to stop buying any vegetables from China due to the amount of chemicals they've been using to grow their produce. After switching we had little issues with such things. It might be a miss here to assume such, but switching to another grocer could be an experiment? :)
One thing I notice with many people cooking is that they fail to taste the ingredients. Break off a piece of cauliflower and taste it prior to cooking. You should get in the habit of tasting things, obviously some items are not practical for this. My wife is guilty of this all the time, so I do 99% of the cooking.
