Ever since going Paleo I have been suffering from unexplained hair loss. It started after three months into the diet (as well as yeast growing all over me). I had a 3 and a 2 month break since late 2012, where my hair regrew fast, but otherwise it has been shedding and thinning.
I have been tested for everything and no causes were found (hormones, thyroid, diabetes, lack of nutrients incl. B Vitamins, D3 Iron/ Ferr.
I eat a high fat, moderate carb diet. I started out LC Paleo, thought that might be the problem and added starch from banana and later potatoes. I have been feeling good on the diet for the most part. I do often feel tired or hazy/ foggy minded after eating though and I have been dealing with severe bloating since eating low carb, or rather after I added carbs back in I could not digest them anymore.
I keep reading that a high fat diet causes hair loss? I eat lots of butter, but I keep reading that it is good on Paleo sites.
I was hoping someone here might have an idea why I am still shedding? I find it so odd that the hair loss stops completely, only to resume a few months later.
Hair loss can actually mean you have just gone from a state of poor nutrition to one of better nutrition.
Hot avocado oil treatment may help you. It contains proteins and vitamins, including A,D, E and B6 as well as magnesium, folic acid, amino acids, copper and iron, all of which can help with both hair growth and nourishment.
