I want to eat bread. My stomach feels slushy and watery and hungry.... What dry foods are best on a paleo diet? Whenever I start dieting, my downfall is this watery empty feeling (absence of bread!) in my tum tum =(
I have eaten eggs and had tea this morning...
While I do believe that people could crave the taste or texture of bread...the stomach feel I don't think is a valid feeling. You're probably not eating enough if you arn't full...
To your question, I don't think there are many dry carbs in paleo...most things need to be cooked in paleo. Baring cooked foods you're left with veggies and like...dried meats, nuts?
Bread replacement, could try a sourdough bread which is gluten free,.
The best replacement for bread is more food! Eat something fatty (bacon, lard, egg yolks, coconut oil, coconut, avocado), and if you still feel like you need something bready, then eat a starchy vegetable (e.g., beets). Or even better, a low-glycemic starchy veg, like carrots or summer squash. Eggs and tea does not sound like enough! Eggs, bacon, tea, plus some veggies, and you will feel amazing after breakfast. And do NOT think of paleo as a diet. Meaning, there is no need to restrict if you are eating the right foods. Eat until you are full, and make sure to eat lots of animal fats and the rainbow of veggies.
There are many options for the replacement of bread. But I personally feel Cheesey Tapioca flatbread is better option. This Flatbread is made by tapioca flour, which provides a different texture and flavor. This Flat bread can also be used for making sandwiches.
Maybe, if you tolerate them, try some sweet or white potato hashbrowns with your eggs.
Also, left over jasmine rice is excellent cooked into scrambled eggs, add some nutritional yeast flakes and Kerrygold for a "cheesy" egg fritata taste. (Plus adding a bit of resistant starch to your intake for the day.)
(I am a paleo eater who feels more energetic, lifted mood, better sleep, by eating "safe-starches" a la The Perfect Health Diet version of "paleo".)
