Hi everyone, I'm really sorry to ask this here but there's nowhere better to go.n I have been paleo for about 6 weeks now and I'll be straight up with it I have pooed my pants about 6 times. It feels like I have wind but it's not when it comes to the surface. I'm not being a troll seriously. I just wanted to know does anyone else have these problems or have they had it before? How did you overcome it? Thanks
Judging by some of the comments on this board, it seems like too much coconut oil can cause diarrhoea. Maybe you could try reducing the amount of coconut oil, and then build up gradually to see if that helps. Btw, I'm in the UK too :-)
@scottyrunne rHi. Also UK. And also had problems with emergency visits to the loo (always got there in time - just!) when I was virtually ignoring carb sources. Same problem not being able to differentiate wind from something more serious! It pretty much meant that mornings had to be spent in the house. When, after about a year, I started adding back white potatoes and white rice, some mung bean noodles or rice noodles, things improved a lot. I also reduced the amount of fat I eat.
Next was adding in fermented foods like sauerkraut (which I make) and beet kvass and kefir, another step in the right direction, followed by starting to use resistant starches, which has improved things almost to normal. Thread about resistant starches here
It is massive, but it's worth reading.
I really wish that I hadn't ever done very low carb; it has taken two to three years to get back to normal - almost.
My husband had a similar problem to this (don't think he ever went in his pants...at least he never told me...). We figured out it was from nuts and eggs, which he was eating a (pardon the pun) shit ton of. Maybe try that?
i've had this problem from my ulcerative colitis. not being able to control your bowels can be a sign of inflammation. have you seen a gastroenterologist for your problems? this isn't normal and could be a sign of something worse.
