All the paleo stuff i've been reading say aim for 8-9h of sleep. this used to be no problem for me at all. After transitioning to 90% paleo (3 weeks and counting) i find it impossible to get more than 6-7h though, i wake up naturally after 6 hours and snooze around, when i get up i feel rather tired and achey, but that passes and i'm then usually full of steady energy until around 10pm. Anyone else has this experience?
1. If I don't exercise, sleep doesn't come easy for me. What's your exercise regimen like?
2. Caffeine intake is often a culprit. Are you drinking any coffee after noon?
3. When I started getting 4 tbsp/day of resistant starch, that really helped me to start sleeping better. Are you getting any RS?
Won't let me upvote your post anymore! I would like an answer to this as well.
Things you may want to try:
Time release melatonin ( Not ideal )
Blue blocking glasses before sleep ( Increase natural melatonin )
Raw honey before bed ( Give your body the ability to convert seratonin to melatonin I think? Also your brain needs food while it sleeps - Low BS can wake you up )
As manley said, RS has been said to help sleep anecdotally ( Not sure why )
Removing external stimuli ( Light, sounds, there are various methods of dealing with issues in these respects )
I'm currently trying Valerian root to no avial ( only a few days in though )
Over at BPE they encourage taking salt water upon waking to get your adrenals supported and boost your energy ( Literally upon waking...don't even get out of bed )
