My adult daughter has a diffuse red patch at the top of her nose, which has been there for over a year. A dermatologist tried to laser it off, but it didn't help at all. Yesterday she went to a plastic surgeon who told her to learn to love herself the way she is.

Great advice, but can we do better than that Paleo folks?

Has anyone gotten rid of a spider angioma by removing or adding something to the diet? According to wikipedia, " In women taking oral contraceptives, they may resolve after stopping these contraceptives." Any experience with this?

Right now she eats paleo-ish. She lives with me and happliy eats what I cook, but also eats out of the house a lot. She doesn't eat a lot of junk out there, but not really paleo either.

Thanks

No answer, but I developed one while pregnant. I still have it, but wonder if it's linked to low vitamin/mineral status in the way stretchmarks are? (I'm a work in progress ;-) – Efaitch Jul 19 2011 at 7:04

Most common reason is endothelial damage to the the capillaries. This is most commonly seen in low estrogen, testosterone or Vitamin D patients.....or those with high cortisol levels. The sex steroid hormones are all endothelial stabilizers. Cortisol breaks down the collagen supports.......

I will try to get her tested for estrogen, testoterone, vit. D. and cortisol? Is there a simple cortisol? Any way to gauge the levels without testing? I'm not sure her doctor will agree to test her. And then the bigger question is, if the levels are corrected, will this fix the angioma, or just stop new ones from happening. – Glither Jul 22 2011 at 6:52
BTW, she went on birth control 5 years ago because she got her period every two weeks. Rather than find out what was wrong, they put her on the pill. Wish I knew then what I know now. – Glither Jul 22 2011 at 7:35
she does not need her doctor to test her. Do it yourself. ZRTlabs.com will – The Quilt Jul 22 2011 at 10:00

No paleo ideas, but has she looked into facial sclerotherapy? It's much more effective than lasers at removing spider veins.

Try pure lavender oil applied topically 3/4 times a day, to the affected area. Avoid rubbing it into the eyes!

Thanks for the input. Do you have any evidence that this helps? Is this from personal experience? How long does it take to see improvement? – Glither Jul 22 2011 at 6:53
