I'm not trying to argue if it's wrong or not. Only thing I know is that we love the taste, but feel guilty after ingesting candies and such.
Is there any hormone response that's bad for our health just by tasting them?
Yes, the mucosa in your mouth will absorb some of the sugar, and the enzymes that break down starches into sugar will work immediately. It will make you HUNGRIER and CRAVING more. A lose:lose situation.
You will be better off if you address your cravings head on:
The amino acid supplement L-Glutamine is supposed to help with cravings.
Fill yourself full of good, whole, nutrient dense real food. Make sure you are eating adequate protein and LOTS of natural fats--these will provide satiety so you will be less hungry.
Try not to expose yourself to temptation without a good, full paleo meal or snack in your belly. That means cleaning EVERYTHING out of your house, and not leaving your house hungry, ever.
If you really, really, really want some of that cake, cookie, or candy, set a time for 30 minutes and get busy with something else. If you STILL want it at 30 minutes, set the timer again. Don't give in until you've tried to distract yourself for at least an hour. And by "giving in"--take a bite or two, chew it very slowly and lovingly and swallow it, too, and then PUT IT DOWN and get on with your life.
The more you feed your cravings, the more there will be. Promise yourself you will power on through and get past them. You'll be glad you did.
That is basically bulemia. Think about how gross what you are proposing is. Think about the reality of it. Will you have a bowl by your side and "spit" your chewed up sweets into that? How much will you chew? 5 chews? 10? What if you swallow some accidentally? Will you make yourself barf? Maybe you should eat the sweets in the bathroom to be closer to the toilet just in case. This is bizarre, food obsessed behavior. Digestion begins in the mouth, with saliva and chewing breaking down your food. You are trying to have your cake and eat it too - in a very icky literal way. Ew.
If it doesn't get metabolized by your body, then you're not going to suffer physical harm but it sounds like torture. I gave in to artificial sweeteners a long time ago (stevia for the most part) Now I make my own delicious treats, I'm totally satisfied and don't suffer from guilt/weight gain/acne, etc etc.
