I am trying to find some glasses to wear at night that will block the blue light from my phone, etc. The only problem is that I would like a pair that doesn't make me look like a total nerd. Does anyone know if these glasses would do the trick??
Also, does anyone own a pair they can swear by that don't look too rediculous? Thank you!
While this is not for a glasses recommendation, it is specifically for what you want to achieve.
Try these two applications. One neat feature is you can set it to automatically dim the blue and brightness as the sun sets.
see this thread as well:
Especially the question that shows a spectrum. Use that to see how effective the pair you've chosen is.
If you search around on amazon for orange sunglasses, a few hits will show up. I picked up mine from woot (amazon owned) a year back, the brand is Peppers. Not the same model, but similar:
But the ugly UVEX construction safety glasses is the most effective pair I've seen so far.
Or, you could, you know, not use the iphone, tablet, or TV a couple of hours before bedtime.
You don't want a light yellow lens, those won't do the trick.
AFAIK the ridiculous looking safety glasses are the most effective. You might be able to find something that looks better but you'll probably pay an arm and a leg for something less effective but more fasionable.
This research from The Huffington Post (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-michael-j-breus/blue-light-sleep_b_3900607.html) claims blocking blue light not only reduce eyestrain but also helps sleep. So I think the most important is that if it can block the blue-light effectively. The lenses I just bought from T'aime Opticks http://www.halovis.com can block 97% of blue light!!! Here is the video on YTB describes how it work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmUebEu3GzE
