Has anyone used Mark Sisson's formula and noticed a great skin glow? I have lots of beta carotene in my diet regularly so I always have clear skin from paleo eating and a glow from the nutrients, but Sisson's gives me a great look. Wondering which nutrients in his formula do that??

Also, there probably are related threads that I'll look at, but what have people found that gives them a great dark, glowing skin tone?

Edit from Chase: I should rephrase....which nutrients in his formula produce the effect? So that we can just buy them seperately

and related question, is preformed retinol important to skin glow? – Chase Jul 20 2011 at 14:34

Nope. Sorry. I'm not into paying $130 for a month supply of vitamins ;-) – Ben Jul 20 2011 at 14:45
right, its too expensive. but tried one month and it did have the effect i described on my skin. however, its so many damn nutrients that it left me feeling more weird than energized – Chase Jul 20 2011 at 14:56
That's what I've heard; it's too "potent". – Ben Jul 20 2011 at 15:02

Skin needs fats and collagen to have good integrity. I find my skin is happiest when I get omega 3's from my FCLO and plenty of good fats and even homemade bone broth! :D I also wash with egg yolks from time to time and moisturize with coconut oil - no need to buy fancy pants products :D

not to mention your bodily "maintenance" should be up to par or as best you could get it( fitness/posture, habits or lack thereof) but i guess thats a given here. premium gas doesnt do squat for a car that needs an oil change or alignment work, right? – OptimusPrimal Jul 21 2011 at 1:48

I like Mark Sisson too and I appreciate his blog a lot but I'm not likely to pay the man that much money for prettier skin, my skin isn't doing too bad on it's own lol

How about vegs and fruits high in carotenoids? Like bell pepper, tomatoes and carrot, perhaps berries.

And plenty fresh wild salmon, seems to work for me. I did alot of tendons and bone broths but skin came much better now when i have been eating wild salmon like 2 kgs a week :) – Jan Jul 20 2011 at 17:21

List

If you take a look at the above image, that's a HUGE list of supplements. Lots of them are unnecessary. While 130$ is okay (if you'd replace that combination of supps with individual supplements you'd lose much more), it's wasted money.

Everyone who takes such a long list of supplement should question their diet. I take something like 6 or 7 different supplements, and already feel lazy/guilty that I do. 50 supps ... that's just ridiculous.

I will admit though : it's tempting. So tempting. I'd love to try it out when I'm eating really well (nose-to-tail + lots of different animals + lots of greens), just to see how healthy one can become. – Korion Jan 11 2012 at 17:48
Holy mega-doses Batman! I feel like taking all that after having some nutrient dense food like liver or oysters could leave me in the hospital. – jj Jan 11 2012 at 19:04
That is a lot of Vitamin A... – syrahna Oct 22 at 3:26
