This is simply a term for anerobic exercise. Often interval cardio.
It is amazingly effective. You can get a newleaf assesment at a local gym and you will get a 12 week anerobic interval cardio workout that goes with it. I lost 25 lbs on this in 3 months this winter.
Or you can go low tech and simply sprint 8 times with a few min break between each. I do this three times a week and also go for a light run once a week...
