Fellow paleo dieters. I have been doing paleo exactly 1 day over a week. I have noticed my energy is through the roof. I am feeling absolutely fantastic. But one thing i dont understand is -Why am i not hungry? Where has my appetite gone?

You are doing it right. You likely are eating some fat with each meal and some protein and are being careful with the carbs. |

When you limit your carbs you switch over to burning your own body fat for energy. Your body is getting part of its fuel from your own fat so there is less need to eat. |

You are filling up on foods high in protein and fat, foods that have higher protein and fats keep you more satiated and therfore you feel less hunger. Also, your sugar levels are not constanly spiking and plummeting, which usually cause cravings! Keep up the good work! |

You body fat is being mobilized and supplying much of your energy needs. Pretty cool, right? All diets resulting in fat loss are 'high fat' diets. ;) Paleo makes me much hungrier than a grain-based diet, although I eat up to 300g of fat per day. And VLC paleo makes me insatiable (until I eat some starch). I have lower body fat and always have. |

the low carb paleo diet doesnt induce the insulin spikes like the homo diabeticus diet does. so, your blood sugar remains at a steady state lower than normal. this leads to weight loss without the sensation of starvation and is the sole reason for the success of the paleo diet. its also why you are allowed to eat as much as you want and not gain weight. its easy to loose weight when your not hungry. |

You are not alone! This is a good thing if you are trying to lose weight. I have been Paleo for 37 days and I am NEVER hungry. I can think of maybe feeling true hunger pains maybe 8 times in 37 days. They weight is falling off and I feel like I am not even trying anymore. I will say that I was able to totally walk away from refined sugar, carbs, dairy and legumes and soy with almost no effort at all. My mind body and soul was ready for this lifestyle. Strict Paleo is not just stopping the carbs, its is letting go of Carbs, Refined Sugars, Dairy, Soy, Legumes. Yesterday, I had 3 Paleo Cinnamon Almond Muffins, a Chicken Breast with avocado, and 3 lettuce wraps with Chicken and Veggies and 3 bites of melon. The old carb driven sugar spiked me would have died with out more food. AND I am not even trying just listening to my body and letting it tell me when to eat. I LOVE this lifestyle! I just finished The Paleo Solution (Robb Wolf) and I am done reading Paleoista(Nell S.) as well. I cant get enough of this lifestyle!! |
