I have found that if I consume fruit or somthin else carby like that in the morning than it makes me crave it later that day. If i dont eat carbs in the morning will it stop the cravings later in the day? Or am i just craving cuz im hungry and its time to eat? Im kinda confused on when to eat carbs and when not to. I am a fighter that trains pretty hard but i wanna lean out too...HELP!
Low carb morning, moderate carb lunch, and heavy carb dinner. Made famous ala leangains. Very effective and much better for you. You produce more insulin when youre sensitive to it (morning) and you produce less of it at night. Think of it as getting all of your glycogen with less insulin production. I have been following this very comfortably for the last few weeks and I havent been able to stop losing weight and I still get all of my glycogen and have full muscle pumps. Try it out and I'm sure you wont be dissappointed. Be careful and transition slowly as it may be hard for your body to adjust too quickly.
What type of carbs are you eating? If you are eating fruit, and weight loss is your goal, definitely earlier in the day or post WOD. For me I focus on strawberries and blueberries (my only fruit) and veggies like spinach, kale, onions, broccoli, bok choy (basically your greens). I was struggling to drop some weight back in March and my trainer had me cut out bananas altogether and other starchy carbs like sweet potatoes, and also high glycemic fruits like mango and grapes. I dropped 5 lbs. in a week.
You can use Fitday.com to track your macronutrients. By keeping my carbs at 50% I also saw great results. Then when you've reached your goal, you can eat more on a maintenance diet and enjoy a banana or sweet potato once a week. Try increasing your healthy fats-olives, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, coconut milk, almonds....that really helps with "fruit" cravings! Whenever I am craving sugar I eat a healthy fat first, and usually that works!
I'm not a body builder but I noticed carb heavy morning set me up to be absolutely starving by lunch. Protein seems to give me much more sustainable energy and a clearer head. Carbs at night (potatoes, strachy veg or fruit) tend to make me feel satiated and ready for sleep.
This thread is awesome. All of us eating our carbs at night are feeling the best and arent on an uncomfortable "diet" that goes against the simple laws of leptin sensitivity and tries to make you go to bed hungry. Thats simply not going to work and its awesome that some of us have figured out what were doing. Basically flipping the american meal schedule on its head, gotta love it.
