I am alergic to nuts and have tolerance issues with coconut and chocolate. Any thoughts for Paleo dessert recipes without nuts, coconut or chocolate?

Can you have avocado? I sometimes like a simple avocado with honey drizzled on the top. – Bread-Eating Beelzebub Aug 8 2011 at 5:12

Also, a nice fruit salad counts as dessert :) – Bread-Eating Beelzebub Aug 8 2011 at 5:12
Avacado works great and Fruit Salad! Thanks! – Eric Aug 8 2011 at 5:14

I have one, but I'm too shy to make it a real answer and have it compete with all those awesome ones down below. Take some really good kefir, some ice, and some berries; throw into a blender. You can add a little bit of ice cream for some sweetness. – Paul Aug 9 2011 at 8:53

Baked apples with cinnamon and honey (some cranberries are good too) Also, fresh figs..they remind me of fig newtons from my prepaleo days

I'm sure others have good ideas but since I don't eat dairy that's all I got :D

Bananas are also great baked with butter and cinnamon. A surprising variation that's fantastic is to bake some full fat mozzarella inside the split banana. – Karen Aug 8 2011 at 10:26
Sounds awesome! – Eric Aug 8 2011 at 23:41

Take some seeded DATES, and wrap them with a length of raw BACON. Secure with a toothpick and place on baking sheet. Bake at 350F till bacon is as cooked as you want it to be. This is DELICIOUS! Hits that salty, sweet, crispy, gooey spot all at once!

Very nice treat! – Eric Aug 8 2011 at 23:42

Stuff the dates with goat cheese if you do dairy! – Paleo Designer Jan 28 2012 at 1:41
Bacon-wrapped dates are my FAVE dessert. They are good stuffed with goat cheese, as mentioned, but also blue cheese even, or an almond. I love them drizzled with smoked paprika-infused honey... – source_bkz May 24 at 4:25

I pour some heavy cream over frozen wild blueberries. The cream freezes around the berries and is kind of ice creamy, and super easy!

This was my dessert of choice for many years. It's excellent just like that, but sometimes I would also toss it all in a blender, and then it was even more like ice cream. The problem with it is that's it's too good to stop eating. – Ambimorph Aug 8 2011 at 14:32
Easy is very good! – Eric Aug 9 2011 at 5:36

Fresh berries with whipped cream made from coconut milk. Heavy cream & vanilla extract if you do dairy.

Thanks! Yes I do consume dairy. Mostly butter, cream and cheese... – Eric Aug 8 2011 at 5:30

  • Panna Cotta with berries

Pour vanilla and some drops of stevia into cream, cook it. Then add gelatine and put into refrigerator for a few hours. Serve with strawberries or blueberries.

  • Cream dessert

2 cups cream, 1/2 cup milk, vanilla, stevia. Heat milk and 1/5 cream, add vanilla and stevia. Whisk other cream and pour in vanilla cream.

  • Banana Shake

Some egg yolks, a banana, 2/3 cup butter, milk. Mix everything together. Makes a nice breakfast shake.

Since you do dairy, some frozen fruit pulsed with some heavy cream (or the fat that rises to the top of your coconut milk) in your food processor would make a nice treat, I imagine.

Yesterday, I was craving frozen dessert like mad, and wound up pulsing some banana and frozen cherries together (about equal ratios -- about 100-125g each). I fed half of it to my fella and ate the other half myself (but, I drizzled melty choccy on mine -- sorry!). It tasted just like soft serve, equated about a serving of fruit, and squashed my sweet tooth like a charm. Yummish.

Gelatin desserts are also pretty amazing. I like to mix pumpkin, pie spices, a bit of stevia (or sweetener of choice) and a non-dairy (or dairy!) of choice with a sachet of gelatin and let it sit until firm. It's like pumpkin pie, except not. ;D You can also make panna cotta with gelatin, as well. (And since I'm obsessed with my food processor, if you whip your gelatin after it's set, it gets foamy and mousse-y.)

If you can eat dairy I have a good one:

Whipped heavy cream with frozen blueberries and small pieces of frozen pineapple. Makes a good ice cream and it is really fast dessert!

That would be like a dolewhip!!! yum! – Eric Aug 8 2011 at 23:42

If you have not seen the one ingredient banana ice cream recipe look it up. It is a banana, frozen and then pulsed in a food processor or blender until creamy. It sounds like what you are looking for.

I would also take a look at egg custards. I am not sure what you allow yourself for sweet, but custards can be made with eggs and honey and little else (the cooking is tricky and you have to really beat the yolks and add the honey right after you take it off the heat). Folding in some white can make them lighter. If you allow yourself flavored liquor the basic recipe can be taken all sorts of directions.

Simple slice of melon (whatever variety takes your fancy - honeydew sprinkled with ginger is nice).

Assortment of berries with cream or natural yoghurt (add some honey or maple syrup if you're so inclined).

As above but replace berries with plums or apricots.

As mentioned elsewhere, baked apple with cinnamon, but you can also add raisins or sultanas. You can bake pears as well.

Fresh fruit salad.

I've seen some great ones with dried fruit (take your pick!!), almond meal (if you can handle that too), sunflower seeds and honey or agave, with coconut, but you can take the coconut out...

I can't have almond meal. However dried fruit sounds good. – Eric Aug 8 2011 at 5:32

Here's a recipe that's pretty popular amongst the atkins/low carber crowd, if you eat cream cheese...

MOCK DANISH 2 ounces cream cheese 1 egg 2 teaspoons granulated Splenda or equivalent liquid Splenda (*use stevia/honey instead) 1/2 teaspoon vanilla Pinch of cinnamon

In a small, microwaveable bowl, soften the cream cheese on HIGH 30 seconds. Beat well with a fork until creamy. Add the egg and beat very well until creamy; mix in the remaining ingredients. Use a small rubber spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl so that all the batter is in the bottom. Microwave on HIGH 30 seconds; rotate the bowl (do not stir) and cook another 30 seconds. If the center still looks too runny, cook another 30 seconds. It may take up to 2 1/2 minutes total, depending on your microwave. The center should be a bit soft for the danish filling effect. Run a small rubber spatula around the danish, then under it to release from the bowl. Transfer to a small plate. Cool until just warm or cool completely before eating.

Makes 1 serving

I'm sure you could also bake this instead of microwave.

You can also look up baked 'oopsie rolls', which are like soft rolls using cream cheese and egg. I'd imagine it'd taste nice sweetened with fruit/cream/honey/etc. There is also this one minute flax muffin if you eat flax. I very rarely make these since I'm mostly off dairy/flax/microwaving, and they kind of mimic breads which isn't very paleo...but once in awhile treat, it's great :)

That looks amazing! – Eric Aug 8 2011 at 23:30
That's odd, when the links have that "?m=1" suffix it takes you to some weird stripped-down version of your blog. (PS I don't really know anything about computers so please don't make fun of me if this is a well-known thing!) – Paul Aug 9 2011 at 8:50
Bah - that was the "mobile version" link that Blogger automatically assigns when on a mobile phone. Thanks for the heads up, WCC Paul! – familygrokumentarian Aug 9 2011 at 12:19
Oh, I see. It didn't really look like a mobile version to me. Will be trying out some banana pancakes this weekend. Come to think of it that would be another dessert for Eric to try. primalkitchen.blogspot.com/2011/07/… You should have added "chocolate-free nut-free coconut-free" to make it the world's longest food description. – Paul Aug 9 2011 at 18:19
Uh, actually, who can wait until the weekend. Just made the pancakes. It's kind of amazing what happens just from mixing eggs and bananas together. It's like some kind of magic trick. We put full-fat yogurt and a little honey on top. And Louise added some coconut butter to the batter. Couldn't really taste the coconut but was comforting to know there was some more fat in there ..... Thanks! – Paul Aug 9 2011 at 19:52

Paleo Pavlova sounds like a possibility for you. I'm sure you could use regular milk instead of the coconut milk that the recipe calls for.
