I don't have atopic dermatitis, but have had other skin issues that first made their appearance in childhood, as well as allergy issues, so, I have always been interested in health information and treatment, both allopathic and non-allopathic. Some of these allergic/inflammatory issues can be very, very stubborn. The following link shares good news on a possible atopic dermatitis chinese herbal treatment from a prospective, randomized, double blind, placebo controlled trial involving patients with severe, intractable, atopic dermatitis.

I don't have atopic dermatitis but I have psoriasis on my elbows and knees that still hasn't gone away. Very frustrating.

Every once in a blue moon, I get some eczema or psoriasis that pops up (after a lifetime of embarassing and even disfiguring levels of both). They usually go away quite quickly if I go hardcore on the elimination of n6 - so no nuts, pork, poultry, sufficient zinc etc... – Katherine Aug 8 2011 at 17:15
Katherine, just curious, I thought nuts were n3 foods and didnt realize pork was an n6 food? or is it because the ratios are too high? I have eczema but it started getting worse on primal foods from months 3-8. I only just got some relief with a cortisone cream, went away almost immediately. I have inflamtory issues with intestines and trying to figure this whole thing out about food....thanks for sharing! – Kelly Aug 8 2011 at 18:57

This is really old. I got rid of it with more regular sun exposure/ no sun block, more carbs, and switched from Twinlab CLO, k2, and vitamin D drops to fermented cod liver oil/ butter oil. I don't know which of those those three things it was but my suspicion is that is was the sun. I no longer think isolated d3 is very helpful, especially if you don't get d from other sources. – Aughra Jul 11 at 15:24

I've hade acantholytic dermatosis for four or five years. Paleo eating didn't make much difference. Sweating makes it worse, but a few days on the beach clears it right up.

Yes, I have dry skin on my legs, nothing serious but anoying. Its even worst now I think.

Skin disease is so f*king anoying, I healed all of my problems except from it (and I had lots of them) and I tried like 100 different stuff and nothing works... The difference goes from annoying to little less annoying.

One thing that I am certain off is that sea climate helps. Adriatic sea vacation always attenuates all my problems. My dermatologist says that people from all over the world come to it as it is known to help skin disease. The worst thing I had is when I skipped my regular yearly vacation.

I've had eczema almost my entire life, and I've tried everything on the planet to get rid of it. Sometimes it will heal for a few weeks, but returns again. I've been prescribed numerous treatments, including steroid creams, goats milk (had to drink it when I was a kid...it was awful) apple cider vinegar, and special salts. NOTHING has worked, and its extremely frustrating. I tried cutting out nightshades too, and it didn't work. Currently I'm seeing if taking a magnesium supplement will help at all.
