I've noticed that when I overeat (on paleo foods) my heart starts to race a bit and I don't generally feel real well. Is it possible to raise cortisol levels when overeating?

Absolutely it can but it does not mean it's bad all the time

I think overeating could be in small part contributing to my cortisol issues. When I tried to gain 5 lbs my sleep really got worse. I've gone back to normal (for me) food intake and my sleep has improved... somewhat. I definitely still have cortisol issues though. – Jeff Aug 9 2011 at 17:57

Could you be eating something that you're allergic to? To me this sounds like an unusual reaction to overeating.

does heart racing = coritsol? maybe not. this could be your body's metabolic response to the influx of energy... you overate, ergo you've given yourself too much fuel, and thus your heartrate rises to burn more of this fuel you put in.

Are you sure that this only occurs as a result of overeating on paleo foods and not just food in general? Might this simply occur as a result of increased blood flow to the gut?
