I love banana chips. They are great to munch on as a little snack or when I'm craving something sweet. Most of the store bought ones I can find here in Germany are usually fried in vegetable oil and then coated with either sugar or honey. I have actually found some from Ann's House of Nuts that are fried in coconut oil, but they too contain extra sugar.
I've tried to make my own banana chips three times following a different recipe each time. My problem seems to be the same no matter how I try to make them - my German stove just doesn't get hot enough to properly fry the banana slices. They always turn out extra soggy, and quite frankly, are pretty gross. I'm just wondering if using a Fry Daddy with coconut oil would work for this purpose. Making sweet potato fries in the FD would also be great, along with occasionally frying up some other veggies when the mood strikes.
So, has anyone tried this? Thanks for your help!
