Hey there. I have two colleagues at work -- one is a 34 yr old man with hypertension and the other is a 38 yr old man with diabetes. The way they eat is beyond horrible (the diabetic drinks 2L of Diet Coke a day to "manage his blood sugar" OMG).
We don't have access to books and, though we work in English, it's not their first language (I live in Namibia, in Africa). I really, really want to introduce these guys to Paleo -- it is how their parents or grandparents ate and I think they may be open (the younger guy, I've already spoken to in general term and he was interested). The issue here is that doctors are just as bad as in the US, but they are accorded much more respect. New medical "technology" is considered the savior. Also, everyone believes that the stuff sold in the big grocery stores is much better (bananas wrapped in plastic! wow!) than the stuff from their gardens or local farmers. (My doctor here was rather shocked that I buy my meat in the open market -- straight off a local grass-fed cow hanging there -- as if it would make me sick.)
Anyway, I am wondering if you can recommend one or two websites on either of these topics that might introduce them to a more healthy way of eating. Otherwise, I fear they're not likely to make it to their 50th birthdays.
Thanks.
