I wish there was any deals here in Finland. Food is so ridiculously expensive here, that deals are hard to find, paleo or not. – Antti Aug 16 2011 at 11:31

I have got some cheap offal and marrow bone from my butcher. I just have to drive 60kms to the farm. I have been buying all my meat from them over a year now. I live in finland also. Local wild fish from market square is quite cheap here, so i mostly eat fish now, i think its better for nordic genes anyway. – Jan Aug 16 2011 at 11:34

The best deal I've come across lately is a local grass-fed pasture-raised beef farmer I found is selling amazingly delicious beef shank for only $2/lb because most people don't know what to do with it so he realized he had to pretty much give it away to get rid of it. I am a verrrry willing recipient of this windfall of cheap grassfed beef! I am tempted to get another freezer to stock up on this before others figure out what's going on and want in!

That is really cool!!! – Eric Aug 16 2011 at 13:48
Those "off" cuts are awesome, aren't they? And they push you to learn some new cooking skills, too. – Rose Aug 16 2011 at 17:56

I recently inquired with the grass fed beef guy at the local farmer's market as to whether or not he had bones for beef broth... He gave me a bag! Yay!

Making coconut milk out of unsweetened shredded coconut has cut our coconut milk costs at least in half.

Eggs from local farms for $1-$3 a dozen.

Planting zucchinis and squash - overwhelming payoff, without a whole lot of effort or monetary investment.

i will quickly note that if you have a trader joe's in your area, the have the best & cheapest variety of eggs!!! serious. their meat, not so much. chicken's good. but the egg options & prices can't be beat.
