My mother is worried since my diet has a moderate amount of fat, and our family now has a history of pancreatic cancer. I'm most certain the studies she's talking about didn't focus on fat from naturally raised animals, but there's a bunch of search results similar to the one below on Google. Can anyone chime in?

I hate these studies because they're not controlled. If I eat grains I'll get cancer, sugar, cancer, red meat, cancer, soy, cancer, now FAT, cancer. I mean what the heck?

You'd have to hold someone hostage in a room from birth til death, feeding them a steady diet of just ONE of those things and see if they got cancer, and even then you couldn't be sure if it was caused by the food.

This stuff drives me crazy.

Read Taubes Good Calories Bad Calories. It explains why saturated fats are ok and why they have been painted on the wrong light.

Reading it right now in fact! It's incredibly interesting & gives me more confidence that this is the way we're meant to eat – Priscilla Aug 17 2011 at 20:22
