For beginners: Whole Health Source is one of the best. Always well researched, always well written. Stephan never preaches, always informs.

I always enjoy PaNu (linked by Bryan). Harris can have a bit more bite in his tone, but it's never over the top. Very thoughtful posts.

If you only read one or two blogs, I'd hit these first. Then, if you want to expand your reads, go to Mark Sisson's list, which Brian provided.

Of course, don't forget Robb Wolf. His spelling, grammar, punctuation are terrible (and he knows it), but his content is rock-solid amazing. Not where I would start a newbie, but the insights here are invaluable if you are looking to refine your nutrition. Apparently I can't post more than one link, but it's just robbwolf and then add the dot com.

I can't believe nobody has yet mentioned the man, Robb Wolf! http://robbwolf.com/

  • Intermittent Fasting, Fitness, & Paleolithic Nutrition
  • He used to work with Loren Cordain, the godfather of the Paleo diet.

I just realized that Peter and his blog Hyperlipid are not on this list!

I think Peter is the largest contributor of the paleo blogosphere in terms of developing nutrition and metabolism theory.

The FatHead documentary/blog of Tom Naughton:

http://fathead-movie.com/

Somewhere between low-carb/paleo/libertarian, but always humorous. His blogroll includes PaNu, Sisson, Hyperlipid, Whole Health Source, Protein Power, Free The Animal, etc.

I use his page as a jumping off point - clicks to other blogs always opens a new window.

I gotta give props to Dr. Mike Eades/Protein Power:

http://www.proteinpower.com/drmike/

Until reading numerous posts there and looking elsewhere for confirmation, I was afraid of saturated fat and dietary cholesterol. He really started my nutritional education. Great anthropology posts there as well.

This is not a blog but a, probably now little known, information recourse site. I thought I would share it here anyway as it may interest readers.

http://www.naturalhub.com/site_contents.htm

Most of the information is 11 years old, as long as I have been interested in paleo nutrition, now but still relevant. It is an anonymous site, no idea who by, but it's well researched and contains alot of interesting articles and information hard to find anywhere else. This inculdes:

  • Wild plant and animal foods available around the world during our evolution.
  • The origins of many domesticated plants and livestock.
  • Theories about evolutionary appropriate diets.
  • Info on growing your own paleo food.

Thanks!

Thor, your blog is great!

I'd add Charles Poliquin -- he apparently seems paleo now. Low carb, gluten-free, grain-free, pollutant/xenoestrogen-free, soya-free... His big guns MELT MY BRAIN OFF. haaa!

Brawny + brainy.

My site isn't totally a paleo nutrition site, but lots of stuff in that realm, plus some rants and training stuff.

http://www.sensiblebeings.blogsite.com

I try to keep it simple and interesting. I add links to long scientific stuff. I keep it direct.

Matt Stone at 180 Degree Health is currently my favorite health blogger. He has a ton of dieting experience and seems to be the one guy talking about the huge potential detrimental effects of a low-carb diet (and dieting in general). Wish I would have found him earlier, as I have run into my own low-carb problems.

I cannot get a good bead on him -- don't know when is making sense and when he isn't. – Patrik Aug 6 2010 at 17:58

Seems to make sense and then goes way off course! A bit of a self-promoting huckster. – Dave S. Aug 6 2010 at 18:01

CT - have you read him? His criticisms of low-carb diets are reasonable, and stem from his own experience. What I like about him is that his mind is never made up -- he is constantly challenging nutrition dogmas and his own assumptions. His basic philosophy of 'health is complicated, listen to your body, eat real foods' I find quite sane. – kylemurphy Aug 7 2010 at 0:50
