How does a paleodiet affect sex drive? And does a paleolifestye work as a mate attractant? Are there any paleo-specific sexual positions I should be trying?

I agree with GGP that an improved physique improves a person's sex drive. It's like getting a new car...all you want to do is take it for a spin. That said, I feel that while some people have some issues with their hormones being out of whack, they will eventually normalize and you'll find your sex drive where it is meant to be. That could be anywhere from Ron Jeremy to Martha Stewart depending on your age, depression level, etc. Someone asked me about my personal experience a couple months ago and all I could say while keeping it classy was that while I'm not old, I looked and felt like I was 18 again in EVERY way. |

Being fit, cut, sleek, taut... These won't hurt your sexual attractiveness. However, sudden diet changes can affect hormonal balance, and quite a few women have noted that sex drive is lowered. The same number report the opposite effect... So it's a matter of your own system's reaction. As for paleo-specific sexual positions, I'll assume that's a joke, but if your thunder thighs and spare tyres disappear, I'm sure you'll find many other positions that are now achievable. If you were to be a true paleotard, then you'd be sure to emulate the clubbed-over-the-head unconscious female sexual position. Not as fun as you'd expect. |

Not for nothing, but the better health I've attained has included better blood circulation (as well as better stamina). I'll be a gentleman and leave it at that. |

Erm... at the risk of too much information, I've found since going primal in January that my sex drive is about triple what it was, my junk is bigger (well, looks bigger anyway, from fat loss), and orgasms are more intense, longer, and more, uh, spurty. I tell all my friends: "Make your unit 1-2" bigger! Just lose 35lbs!" |

A lot of the guys I've dated seem to enjoy watching me gnaw on a steak, so it seems to work for me. Probably too many bad experiences with those "I'll just have a side-salad" types. |

Lot of people find increased sex drive. I did at first too, then it went back to about 'normal'. One thing I noted after I stopped eating gluten was... uhhh... interesting dreams. That went on for about a month (and what a month it was!)
The best mate attractant in my opinion... personality. A kickin' bod helps, sure. Not be-all, end-all though.
If you think of any, make a list and post 'em ;) Course you could always just re-name existing ones... Bonobo-style, Reverse Cavegirl, etc |

It is a little risky but my girlfriend and I like to "get busy" with each other while out mountain biking or back packing. Being in the buff outside is fun stuff. It goes with out saying that you must take precautions to not be seen. |

I used to have no sex drive, well very little, or stamina. Now I have both. I enjoy life more in general, sex is just a part of that. |

I haven't noticed much of a difference in myself. My wife, although only going paleo part of the time (the meals in the evening that I cook and on my days off), has gone from, in the 4 years that I have known her, having her period cycles every two and sometimes 3 months, to having them every month like clockwork. They also seem to be shorter. Before the cycles would be slow and drag on, and she always gets migraines during this time so it was hell for her. In simple terms, she gets hot more often, and the window of migraine has closed a little. That's the power of fat, my friends. |

I havent found any change. Ive not eaten grain for over a year and been pretty strict Paleo for 6 months. I wasnt over weight though and already exercising. Id be curious how much of peoples improvements were due to exercise and how much to diet. I know that cholesterol is needed to make certain hormones but besides that I think exercise has more to do with it than anything. I could be wrong though as I was already eating fruits and vegetables for the last few years I just was also eating grains, legumes and dairy. |

My drive went up when I gave up gluten... but I had just been diagnosed with celiac, and lots of other things got better at the same time, so it's hard to credit "paleo" specifically. |

I just started the Paleo diet and I have to say that my sex drive has dramatically increased...to the point where I'm wondering what is wrong with me! LOL I'm a 32 year old female (maybe that has something to do with it...people always talk about women in their 30's being in their "prime"). I'm just curious to know if there are other women out there that have experienced this on the Paleo diet? It's great, but kind of hoping it levels out soon. Any other women out there who've experienced this? |

I noticed that my sex drive went up after I started looking good naked. Then it went down, but that could be due to work stress. After a few cheat meals high in sugar and starch, I noticed it went up again! Maybe something to do with the link between carbs and serotonin? Another thread suggests fructose could be an autumn sign to store fat for the winter. Maybe sugar is also an autumn sign to get pregnant so the babies are born when it's warm out? |

Interesting this came up, as it has * ahem * been on my mind. Yes, my libido has increased, but I think that is augmented by three factors:
I've also noticed increased mobility and reflexes. That helps too. And, I have to say that I sincerely believe that paleo and sex can be related, but that a solid pair-bond is part of the process. It makes everything more fun. Practice makes perfect. Having good chemistry to start though is what seals the deal. |

I do know that when couples decide not to use chemical contraception their sexual encounters and gratifications increase. I suppose its the same concept of paleo food: natural sex is better than chemically modified sex. |

mine has gone way up and i've only been on the diet for less than 2 weeks and have been exercising every day. aside from my cronic sinus allergies just suddenly disappearing (i've been a mouth-breather my whole life), i've kinda become a tigress in the sack as well and pretty much don't want to stop. the bf is trying to keep up lol! so yeah. if this was the ONLY benefit to going paleo, that would be more than enough motivation for me. |
