Hi all, I'm not trying to be crude but thought I should just come out with it... I have always had pretty small breasts. Whenever I lose weight, they are probably the first thing to go, when I gain weight they are the last to get bigger. They are like really small--As right now, but barely B size when I was heaviest. Before my crazy junk food eating, I thought my body looked pretty proportional. Now, not so much, especially when I still have a lot in my belly area to lose. However I keep hearing how lots of women who have gone paleo actually increase their breast size. What gives? Is it the lack of estrogen-inducing foods (though those women should also have less of those right?)? Is it the (paleo) binge eating that makes fat stay around the midsection? Any ideas would be awesome :)

I know this may be an unpopular answer, but I'll say it anyway, from one small breasted woman to another. Diet will affect your breast size, yes, but only very slightly. If you care enough to be concerned about them, get a boob job. Otherwise, accept them for what they are, and be happy that you can do stuff like run and wear cute tops and shop in normal bra stores. |

Estrogen levels play an important role, which come mainly from milk, soy and tofu products (lacto-vegetarian, anyone?). Xenoestrogens like Bisphenol A in soft plastics, deodorants, make-up and moisturisers, may also help. Sice these modern foods and chemicals are not the best from an evolutionary perspective, we should ask if larger breasts are not a marker of the unhealthy industrial revolution - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1350919/Why-ARE-womens-breasts-getting-bigger-The-answers-disturb-.html ; http://www.ayushveda.com/magazine/eat-to-make-your-breasts-grow/ |

I think Dr. Davis from the Heart Scan Blog says that elimination of wheat reduces breast size. At least...he says eating wheat causes man-boobs, so I think the female analog probably also holds. |

I think that this, along with most things, really depends on the person. I've heard of other women having their boobs get bigger with paleo, but for me, just like any other kind of weight loss, mine are the first things to shrink! :) |

I am one of those people who's boobs ballooned on paleo, but so did my hips which I haven't heard as much about! So, while it is nice to fill out some shirts and have a little waist, all new pants, and what I would refer to (affectionately) as love handles. I think it's a package deal for me! Either way, my breast-less friends can pull off outfits that would make me look awful, and vice versa, just gotta work what you got! |

I wish I could help you. When I loose weight - no matter if it's from eating paleo or eating SAD and excerising the boobs get smaller. |

ugh.... don't listen to the people who tell you to take "natural" plant estrogens... I can't believe paleo people believe that will help - as if our own bodies are too evolutionnarily retarded to make enough sex hormones. Soybeans don't have large amounts of non-steroidal estrogens because they're just nice like that and want to help you. They have it so it can make you infertile and mess up your hormones by exploiting your body's release of sex-hormone binding globulin. Get your hormones levels checked if you're worried. If you need more hormones, take Rx synthetic hormones, not that hippie-dippe magic moon crystal new age plant pseudo-estrogen crap. Some women just have bad genes when it comes to boobs - I know 2 women who are pretty much flat chested. At least they don't have to worry about breast shrinkage... |

In my yo-yo days, I always lost from the top down and my chest always took a big hit. BUT, when I was losing I was following the low-fat advice. That strategy made me more comfortable because I suffered from mastitis. This time, I am both post-menopausal and generous-fat. And my noticeable thinning has left my boobs pretty much intact but just as comfortable as in the past. So my anectodal hypothesis is that the discomfort/mastitis was yet another chronic symptom of severe wheat intolerance while the loss of breast size was my body rebelling against the low-fat diets. Ancestral eating gives me the best of both, and isn't that nice? |
