Hey Paleo Playmates
Anyone have a great single defining moment on your Paleo lifestyle
ie.. A moment when you knew Paleo changed your life
Answer for me: My body finally started to lean out completely, head to toe
I am speaking for my son, his asthma and eczema have all but vanished, he was born with them (he is 14 now), he was in the hospital constantly when he was younger, always on various drugs. There is no putting into words how he feels now, he says he is 'normal' for the first time in his life and the worry I have always had has lifted, so less stress for the both of us. I am a single father so I have always shouldered the responsibility and stress.
when my neurologist told me that not only was there no more disease progress (i have multiple sclerosis) in my most recent MRI, but that one of my lesions had actually disappeared. around the same time i noticed that i could take a hot shower without losing the feeling in my hands. talk about finding the key to the universe....
When my 3 year old daughter was at a pool party this summer, someone offered her a juice box and she said "sugar is bad for you".
It almost brought me to tears knowing that she has does not have to wake up at age 42 to undo 41 years of abuse. I am so thankful!
not really one moment i guess. I had been eating relatively well (WAP, strict) for years beforehand.
Perhaps the total lack of gas now? Was never that bad but its like, never now. Which is one of the not-really-mentioned but extremely important for day to day living that is key.
I can't fathom how people live their daily lives eating shit and just farting all day. It really grosses me out now.
Besides all the amazing physical benefits...
My defining moments include:
Cooking and eating liver with enjoyment.
Buying bones, boiling them and calling it my multi-vitamin.
Ground beef feels really good in my hands.
Not bathing in the last week, going for a swim or a quick cold shower and smelling great anyway.
Loving my food, taking pictures of it and putting them on Facebook and wondering why everyone else isn't totally in love with their food and then remembering that I had little regard for it when I was eating anti-nutrients and the like.
Watching a dinner party in a pufa and sugar feeding frenzy and seeing the power of unconscious eating, the addiction to junk and realizing I had found a way of eating that brought balance, satiety and healing.
Yeah, leaning out effortlessly and feeling like I found the key to the universe.
When it took less than 5 minutes to fall asleep due to a calm brain and body. I have never, ever been able to fall asleep in less than an hour and without music or some sort of distraction before paleo. I cannot begin to explain what this has done for my stress levels and peace of mind.
Great question by the way. +1
-I woke up one morning 2 months in with the realization that the horrible headaches, constant diarrhea, bloating and pain were finally GONE- gone for good! I wasn't fooling myself with a panacea- it really was working!
-The moment when my father looked at me and thanked me for introducing him, my brother and my mom to a Gluten free/paleo lifestyle... My mother can finally move around without constant pain in her bones and is finally growing back some of her hair and my father isn't fighting to think through the haze of antibodies to his own nervous system...
It's such a relief that they listened to me, got tested even though their doc dismissed it and now will never go back to the SAD lifestyle they had. My family means a lot to me and it was horribly painful to watch them suffer- life is MUCH better now...
I was evaluating myself after a few weeks and realized the following:
