I would recommend reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" ASAP. Fertility awareness mixed with some self-restraint on the part of my husband has worked quite well for us. Cervical caps are good too. I like that you can leave them in for 48 hours, and even make your own spermicide if you are sensitive to chemicals.
Read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility", then:
1) Track your morning temperature and your cervical fluid, takes 30 seconds every day.
2) Have sexy fun. 3) On fertile days, use condoms, and have sexy fun.
That's all there is to it.
Please look up the LadyComp. I've used it for five years and have never had a problem. Never. It actually was the one device that let me know that I was not ovulating due to celiac disease. There are pharmacies in Canada you can order it from. It is not cheap, but well worth it in the long term. Good luck!
Honestly, I'd try the IUD again. It really is your best bet.
FAM, which I used for years, is great if you actually use it as intended but damn, damn, damn it's hard to abstain when fertile and if you're not going to abstain when fertile then condoms, diaphragm or cervical cap becomes necessary anyway....
I had cancer so I could not use anything with hormones. What I could use was a Copper IUD. I had no problems at all with it, not even heavy bleeding like some have claimed. It just felt a little weird the first week. After that I never noticed it.
