Do you/have you used a ZMA supplement? Find it helpful? If so any preferred brand(s), dosage?

I currently take B6, zinc and mag all separately and was wondering if ZMA might be a good way to simplify things... the forms of zinc and mag I take now are different than those found in ZMA, but ZMA's particular recipe is reputed to help with muscle building and recovery... which... I could use some of that.

I take NOW ZMA, 2 capsules at bedtime, and definitely noticed a difference with my sleep. A little deeper and much easier to slide into dreamland. I keep them next to my bed, will take, then lights off. I've thought about adding Natural Calm in as well and will do so as soon as Fall has settled in.

For "recovery and muscle building?" Well.. sleep to me is kind of the most important recovery, muscle building is my nutrition and workouts, so for me it definitely works for recovery :)

Outside of the ZMA the only other supplement that I take is Fish Oil. Keeping it simple..

I thought your body could only absorb one kind of zinc supplement? Chelate, I believe. Anyway, you can dose them separately, which will probably be cheaper than buying a blend. You will also have more quality control that way. I am Celiac, so I have to watch out for gluten in ingrendients, ect. It's worth the extra few bucks to get something pure. I have Adrenal Start and Un-Stress from Megafood. They have all 3 ingredients in them, and I have noticed a big difference in sleep quality and recovery/energy. I don't take both in the same day, but cycle them week on, week off.

actually, better economy is a check in ZMA's pro column, as far as I can tell. – Rockgrrl Sep 7 2011 at 16:56
