Has anyone tried these? Acceptable cookie alternative?

The FAQ claims that they are consistent with the paleo diet, but I wanted to see if the community had an impression of them.

"...made with honey, almond meal, walnuts, raisins, ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon." You're not going to incorporate too many of them during a highly successful weight loss phase, and the huge proportion of nut derived ingredient is a whopping load of omega-6 fatty acids, which might aggravate any inflammation you may be experiencing. If you mean "an alternative to those flour and sugar bombs which are likely to keep me fat and happy", then yes - they are an excellent alternative! |

I've tried them before and while they're certainly grain free, I found them excessively sweet. I have a sweet tooth, personally, but I think they went a bit overboard with the honey and the texture is a bit weird. Very chewy. Overall, they're okay, but I think you'd do well to make you're own at home with fewer sugars, as these are clearly not ideal for a low-carber. |

I have tried them -both the tropical and original. I was fine with all the ingredients since I am not trying to lose weight. I had two problems -#1 They were too sticky to be practically portable. #2 Too sweet -I have a hard core sweet tooth -but they were over the top, even for me. |

They aren't that great but maybe ok for an occasional treat. You could home make them for a lot cheaper though. |

They seem ok, but I think I would do these (which are really good) instead Fudge Babies But I like chocolate and I a don't need crisp, so it really depends on what you want in a cookie. |

I tried them and they were really really really really sweet. I could only eat half of one. Hail Merry pies are ironically marketed as vegan, but as paleo occasional indulgences go, they are delicious, not too sweet, and don't have rancid fats (mostly raw nuts and coconut). They are expensive enough and bittersweet enough that they can't be overeaten. |

WAY too sweet for me -- I've found that 1 egg, 1/4 c cashew butter or coconut butter, 2 tbsp chopped pecans, 1 tablespoons coconut flour, 1 scraped vanilla bean, and 2 ground dates makes a nice treat. Not so sickly sweet. |

I don't really like them. I like the texture of Lara bars better. |

If your looking for an alternative treat that is not as sticky or sweet as the caveman cookies try Paleonola.com They have grain-free granola in a few different flavors. Like other people have mentioned, treats or snacks are good but don't overdo it. If your trying to lose weight then maybe stay clear of any of them but if you're looking for something better than the traditional crap on the mainstream market try Paleonola. I've tasted them and like most of their flavors. Others I didn't care for but that's just my opinion. |
