Yes, the skin is poisonous! Heard about that. If you carefully peel 'em, wash 'em, fry 'em up---is ok?

Potatoes are cheap; I would throw out the green ones and eat the... non-green ones. That said, if you're gonna do it, scrap away not only the skin but any green flesh as well. – Jay Sep 16 2011 at 19:47

Every part of a potato that is green has the toxin solanine.

The skin (of normal non-green potatoes) isn't poisonous. But green potatoes are. So either buy new potatoes, or make sure you cut out every green part on the potato.
