Same time same place W Hotel 10 pm. See you there!
EDIT by PAUL
To all PHers at the conference, I know we had settled on Saturday night for a meetup, but I think we're going to try tonight also and we're going to pick as a semi-arbitrary meeting place the lobby/bar at the W hotel by campus. 10:00 pm. It might be a bit pricey or crowded, but we could move on from there to somewhere else and hopefully enough people will have enough other people's phone numbers by then to get everyone together if we move. And then we could pick somewhere else for Saturday night.
LA citizens, please nominate a specific bar for our paleohacks get-together, preferably very close to the symposium (and not super-loud and crowded). We should maybe plan to meet around 9. When at least a couple agree that a certain bar sounds good, I'll list it up here. At which point, you can officially start to get pumped. I'm down for meeting up both Friday and Saturday, and if it's not too gauche, we can start at the same place both nights to make logistics easier.
Who's up for grabbing some fermented fruits or grains in LA? I'm not a big drinker, so what I really mean is, who wants to hang Friday or Saturday night after dinner? I'd love to meet some paleohackers--the only one I've met so far is akd and she's pretty much the shit. We could do anything from discussing probiotics to dancing like idiots to singing terrible karaoke. All are 100% certified Paleo. If you are interested and would like to to answer these questions, that would be groovy...
Not everybody wants to share their contact info, understandably. One option is that I put a meeting location/time on this thread before the symposium starts. Another option is that we all paint our faces with Maori tattoos and find each other at the Symposium using a coordinated series of stomping movements.
I arrive in LA on the third. I am planning on surfing and reducing cortisol. If anyone has plans to meet let me know if you'd like to meet. I will be renting a car so I can travel. I have some media appointments but I will cancel them for good company and wine. LOL
I have two tickets but now my wife just informed me that she is going to bail on me because she has a work trip overseas. So I am weighing the alternatives. Right now I am leaning towards still going and maybe finding Ms Right For Two Nights while in LA...to join me for AHS (which may or may not stand for Ancestral Health Symposium).
If I still attend, count me in. My email is email@example.com. Ghee Wolverine don't give a shit if y'all know my email!
Maybe create a Facebook page for the wrangling.
EDIT - There are a couple people that already have dibs on my ticket(s) if I don't go. Just an FYI since inquiring minds might want to know.
This is me being excited :)
I will be at the big show.
First, some links:
It looks like there is some kind of consensus for dinner on the Facebook page; apparently I can view the page even though I have no Facebook account. Anyhow we're planning on after-dinner shenanigans on this thread here, so that's no conflict, it seems.
Second, my answers to Kamal:
I'll be there. I'm really looking forward to the AHS and meeting some of you.
I would love to find someone to hang out with/do dinner on Thursday as I'm getting into LA around 3:00 and have no plans.
Howdy folks, if anyone would like to go to Animal at 8:30 on Friday, let me know, either here or on the Facebook page- so far it's just me and the beau, Shari, & Henry. I think Patty of Chowstalker/Following My Nose may be coming, but she may have plans with another group. I'll try to make a reservation sometime this weekend, and if you guys want to use my page on Facebook to facilitate a drink meetup (I also think Saturday night would be good for that) feel free!
I'm in. Just returning to LA but have lived there. The go-to area for restaurants and bars near UCLA is called Westwood Village. Don't have a specific place there to recommend tho. I will try to hit Animal as well, just for the name - and, of course, the good company of everyone on this page.
AHS Meetup-ers, where should we meet? 2 Answers
