I like to enjoy a few alcoholic drinks on the weekends. I have been doing NorCal Margaritas for a couple months. I was just wondering if anyone has played around with other Paleo alcoholic beverages???
I have some below that I like plain or liquored up for in-home or taken to parties. I gave the booze options that will work best. You literally can puree any fruit, add an aromatic, cut with a little water and add booze or seltzer to most anything to make a tasty beverage. Pineapple with mint, macerate berries with citrus and use the juice, etc.
Puree the watermelon, mint and water. Strain into a pitcher using cheesecloth, buttercloth or a chinoise. Add lime juice. Stir it up. Good plain or with vodka
Lemon juice, mint muddled together then topped with ice and seltzer. Good with vodka or gin
Strawberries, water, lime juice, jalapeno, ice. Blend all together. Good with tequila or vodka
Green tea, mint or shiso, lime juice, muddled together then add ice. This is one of my favourites to just drink without booze and add seltzer. It's tasty with vodka but if you want to go balls out then use rum - it's kind of like a mojito.
I should note that, well, rye whiskey with some ice or with ice and topped with seltzer is a damn fine drinkie on a hot day as is a glass of rose filled with ice in a double highball :)
I rarely drink mixed drinks (usually a good bear or glass of red wine kind of guy) but when I do, it's a "Tan" Russian.
Swapping Kahlua for Patron XO Cafe cuts the sugar, coconut milk replaces milk, and Grey Goose replaces plastic jug vodka.

I am finally giving up beer, i have been on the Nor-cal Margaritas this week myself.
I like vodka and diet (not light, but diet) cranberry juice occasionally too, no carb, low sugar, but regualr Vodka might be grain based? but maybe there is potato vodka out there? not sure of all this.
I used to drink rum and limeade in the summer, but the frozen limeade is loaded with sugar, I wonder if there is a no sugar way to do this?

For lazy no-prep summer refreshment i'm a fan of (cheap) wine + bubbly water, on ice. (a.k.a. 'spritzer') Lemon or lime twist and/or splash of fancy liqueur if they're around are bonus. I used to be really into homemade sangria, now I just cut to the chase.
I have found that if you buy a quality tequila, it is very easy to drink straight (and no, I'm not talking about shots, I'm talking about as a sipping dink).
There is a world of difference between Jose Cuervo and a quality 100% agave brand like 1800 (which is not really that much more expensive). I found the Jose Cuervo to be almost undrinkable straight, while the 1800 silver enjoyable and easy to drink straight.
