Im trying to get some feedback about consuming coconut oil to help with weightloss and removing of candida build up. I seen a mention by raw natureboy, but this is the first time Ive heard anything about it. Im still nursing my 21 month old son and Im in need of a cleanse which I can't do while nursing so I was hoping this could help with the candida build up at least.
This is definitely one of those YMMV things. When I started with it I did drop a few pounds. I've also seen people who gained weight when adding it in. Depending on how much you take you can be talking about a significant increase in calories. I think that may be the issue. I think you just have to try it to see what your body does with it.
Be sure to ease into it if you are not used to CO in your diet. I got severe nausea from trying to eat too much of it too soon. I had to work my way up to the 3 TBSP which is supposed to be the minimum therapeutic dose.
Here's my recipe for an MCT oil based Caesar dressing!! IT'S DA BOMB.
High-Sat-Fat Caesar Dressing (Mediter-Asian variant)
Blend with a hand blender in a large 3-4 c size cup or bowl (or if you need a workout, mash in a wooden bowl with a wooden spoon):
-- drained tin of anchovies (Trader Joe's is great)
-- 2-4 cloves garlic
-- 1-3 Tbs mustard (either yellow or Grey Poupon, 3 to 4 Tbs will yield a mayonnaise)
-- 1-3 Tbs soy sauce (Whole Foods and health food stores have wheat-free tamari sauce, same thing)
-- 1-3 Tbs lemon juice or raw apple cidar vinegar
-- 1-2 tsp black pepper
-- 1-2 tsp sugar or honey (secret ingredient)
-- 3/4 to one cup MCT Oil (NOW brand which is flavorless)
-- 1-3 Tbs olive oil (or more, I like the polyphenols)
-- 1 to 2 egg yolks (preferable omega-3 free-range chickens)
Adjust the flavors to your personal taste.
Store in fridge for up to one week. MCT oil and coconut oil like other saturated fats are natural preservatives with anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties.
There are people who say that coconut oil, because of it's medium chain trigs, can help stimulate fat-burning. I'm not sure about the way. It's been popular in the lifting community for years as MCT oil.
If you're just talking about adding it to your diet without taking something else out though, I would not bet on weight loss. If you replace something with it you may have luck.
Coconut Oil is probably one of the most beneficial substances on earth. I cook with it, and I drink it straight from a shot glass. It is the greatest appetite suppressant there is. It will aid your gut in healing and improve your skin as well.
Eating a clean Paleo diet filled with lots of organic meats, good fats such as coconut oil, avocado, extra virgin olive oil and various nuts such as walnuts, macadamia nuts and almonds if tolerable, non starchy veggies and fruits will take weight off faster than anything. Eating clean like this is a natural cleanse. Ease back into exercise, but eat clean...No grains, no sugar, no processed anything. No one thing will do it, there is no magic pill. There is no need to cleanse. Eat clean, it will happen :-D
You can go to my fb page notes section for a list of Foods I eat, along with my story and results so far.
I'm a salad eater. I usually have a salad for lunch. A couple of months ago, I made a change to my daily routine. I substituted MCT oil for my usual olive oil in my salad dressings. That was it. Nothing else changed during that time, and I started losing weight. Coconut oil is about 50% MCT oil. There are numerous pubmed articles on energy expenditure and/or weight loss and MCT and/or coconut oil.
