This is a question to women around 135-155 lbs who eat bacon. This morning I ate bacon only for breakfast. I wanted to know how much bacon you think you would eat if you ate only bacon for breakfast. Also please note the thickness of the bacon. I ate 3 thick slices at home and then got 6 more at work! Maybe to much bacon... I didn't eat much yesterday though. 1. How much bacon you eat at breakfast? Bacon only or how much bacon combined with other food. 2. how thick the slices are?

OK for quick reference it seems most people eat between 2-4 thick slices with 2-4 eggs. I think I would have been good if I had of cooked 4 slices instead of 3 or maybe added some tomatoes to the pan. I'm trying to cut down on eggs atm cos I have a bit of an intolerance. – Joy Sep 19 2011 at 16:40

Depends. Half pound to full pound per am – The Quilt Sep 19 2011 at 19:29
Dr. K, I didn't know you were a 135-155 lb woman. – April S. Feb 23 2012 at 1:52

I am 5'2" and 140ish lbs. I try to keep my calories around 1200-1400 per day.

When I eat bacon for breakfast, I usually have something with it, typically 2 eggs. I eat 2 to 3 slices of bacon as a serving. I prefer the thick cut bacon and will only eat 2 slices of that, for sure. If it's a thinner bacon, then 3 slices.

Why so few calories? – Patrick Sep 21 2011 at 18:18
I am formerly obese and have lost over 100lbs. That's where I have to keep them or I gain. I have been losing/maintaining for over 7 years now and I've tried over and over to raise them, but it just doesn't work. – sherpamelissa Sep 21 2011 at 19:04

4 slices of thick, restaurant-style bacon. 3 scrambled eggs with kale, green onions and radish.

I try to limit myself to 4 pieces when I cook it. It's hard though. I do love some bacon!

I definitely have been known to eat nothing but bacon for breakfast...with my tea, of course...I buy Applegate Farms bacon ends most of the time, they are much more affordable, and I bake them in a large cast iron skillet full of raw bacon, then eat about half of that...kind of a lot, but I do just fine with it.

3-4 med thickness, more than that would be too rich for me (make me feel sick)... :~)

I could eat limitless bacon. I never get full on it for some reason. – vdh1979 Sep 19 2011 at 14:26

I LOVE bacon... and I agree with vdh... I never seem to get full on it. I am 5'4 / 150. When I eat breakfast I eat 3 pieces thick cut, 2 eggs and 1 piece of cheese. I can't eat just bacon, I don't feel full. I also drink about 4 cups of coffee with just under 1/4 cup of cream. The days I don't eat breakfast I just drink the coffee and cream :)

It's kind of like the tortilla chips with salsa I used to eat at Mexican restaurants. I could eat it forever and never get full. I think Bacon is tastier! – vdh1979 Sep 19 2011 at 16:45

My breakie: 3-4 thin slices with usually 3 eggs and sometimes some veggies or sauerkraut. I weigh 135 lb, 5'9".

1up'd for using the word breakie... – Joy Sep 19 2011 at 16:38
Such a beloved meal deserves a diminutive... :) – Rockgrrl Sep 19 2011 at 23:59

I could eat 6 Kirkland brand Costco bacon slices (medium thick) if I ate alone. Otherwise 2-4 with eggs and pastured butter.

I eat 2 pieces of thick bacon with two eggs fried in the bacon grease, if I eat breakfast.

Sometimes I have a smoothie (with no bacon, lol), and sometimes I have no breakfast at all.

I'm 5'8", 155 lb.

Usually 3 medium slices along with a couple of overeasy eggs. Maybe some avocado too. Definitely recommend eating bacon and guac together mmm. I'm 5'8 1/2" and about 135-140lb.

12 slices of fat back, organic bacon every morning (5 AM) followed by 6 slices around 10:30AM, and six slices around 2:30 PM (all with lot's of water).

Skirt Steak for Dinner with Kale, Spinach, Parsley, Dandelion Greens, and Green Chard.

Running at about 9.5% body fat for almost 2 years now.

So u eat nothing but bacon until dinner? My question to you is, what do you do with all the spare bacon grease, organic to boot, from cooking 2 dozen bacon slices per day? – Namby Pamby Feb 23 2012 at 15:29
I drain it, one of my co-workers collects it every three weeks or so for cooking. He is not Paleo, but he is a pal. Bacon eaten alone or with some greens makes me feel excellent. – DaJoSee Feb 24 2012 at 2:07

I tend to eat a panful of bacon at a time. Sometimes I'll have more than one panful a day. It's satisfying for me, but I don't ever feel over-full on it, and usually have it along with something else (cheese, eggs, heavy cream with tea added to it, etc).

I'm about 5'3" and 125 lbs.

ETA: oops, that's not the range you were looking for. Sorry!

Nah its fine lol. I am still struggling to understand how people can weigh so much less than me and be around the same height! I have struggled with my weight my whole life and I am def not fat at 5"4' or 5"5' and 144 pounds. I guess different body types, different compositions account for the difference? – Joy Sep 19 2011 at 19:26
my thoughts exactly, joy. – meret Dec 29 2011 at 23:52
@Joy I'm 5'6 and 155....most girls im around, who are my height or taller, tend to be in the 125-140 range. im nowhere near the body comp id like to be, but im the "normal" range at appx 28%. ive come to accept the fact that even if i lean out, ill still be 140ish...but then i think about what my muscular stature can do in comparison to their waiflike frames and im okay with that :D – Hoover Feb 23 2012 at 13:36

I avoid bacon just because it's just a O6 and PUFA bomb. There probably a lot of fat soluble toxins in them too.

oh man O6 for reall? I thought bacon was a saturated fat place where I could chill and om forever – Joy Sep 20 2011 at 18:04
hate to burst your bubble, but yea. It falls in the same category as poultry as well :-( ::sobs:: – Sunshine Sep 21 2011 at 0:41

who cares? Enjoy it! – Patrick Sep 21 2011 at 18:21
Hey - I never said I never eat it anymore - I just don't make it a staple. – Sunshine Sep 22 2011 at 15:01
I am not too worried about toxins. The bacon I use comes from local farmers I can talk to about the pigs' lifestyles. I do not buy "conventional" bacon (or any other factory-farmed meat, due to health and ethical reasons). – Lindenblossom Oct 5 2011 at 17:48
