Terrible headache after eating beef kidney- Why?

I get a terrible headache when I eat beef kidney. Why would that be? To clarify, the only kind I have tried so far is commercial beef kidney. Could that be the issue?

How often did that happen? If it happened only once you shouldn't blame the poor kidneys It could have originated from something else. – Flavio M. Sep 19 2011 at 15:39

It happened every time so far, but the headache was less severe depending on how much I ate. If I ate a smaller amount, my head didn't hurt as badly. I don't get headaches anymore otherwise. – vdh1979 Sep 19 2011 at 16:00

Kidney is kinda high in purines or something, i dont know if its just in my head but it makes my urine smell funny too. I eat lamb kidneys sometimes. They are much more, ermm, refined in taste :D – Jan Sep 19 2011 at 19:25
