Should I or anyone in the Paleo Family be alarmed about whats in our toothpaste ie excessive sugar or other ingredients that could hinder us from the positives we gain through Paleo?? Suggestions on toothpastes or other alternatives
Putting details (e.g. toothpaste composition) before big picture issues (e.g. actual food consumed) is a waste of time. I can't imagine anybody being that dialed in to paleo to need to reevaluate toothpaste composition.
I found only one conventional toothpaste with no artificial sweeteners or corn derived sorbitol. Its Desert Essence's NEEM toothpaste. Toms of main has art. sweeteners and sorbitol. Even gum and mints aren't Paleo. I'm a newb, so there.
A lot of Toothpastes contain Gluten. Also some people have reported redness and inflammation of their face as a result of using toothpaste that contains mint. Dry some of the more natural toothpastes Auromere and maybe add a little sea salt for a little extra scrub. Also oil pulling with coconut oil or tea tree oil seems to help with oral hygiene and teeth whitening.
