Dr. Oz wants to know how you manage your diabetes, asthma and other chronic conditions. Who here wants to tell him??

https://www.facebook.com/droz/posts/253119351395897

It's a paleo flash mob over there in the comments. All of y'all here at Paleo Hacks are so passionate about this lifestyle. Just want you all to join in :)

I have a feeling Dr. Oz might shut down the question. Everyone is being very civilized, but I don't think he's getting the answers he expected. I just went and added my 2 cents. Someone should take some screenshots of the post!

I apologize for this not being a real question, just wanted to get the word out. Delete it if you must.

The responses to that question are priceless. – A at Grain Free Diet Sep 23 2011 at 22:56
Weird, my comment seems to show up when I'm logged in, but not when I log out. Could it be because I responded as a page instead of a person profile? – A at Grain Free Diet Sep 23 2011 at 23:12

Some powerful testimonies there. – vdh1979 Sep 23 2011 at 23:25

i added my comment a few hours ago...

going through the comments makes me alternately hopeful and sad for people. so many pills. so much sickness. but then the further down you go, the paleos show up and tell these people that there's another way. i hope they're listening...

That was my thought exactly. Dr. Oz will probably just ignore the comments and chalk it up to bullying by an internet "flash mob," but I really hope some of the sufferers get nudged to investigate primal diets. I especially hope they see that nobody leaving comments there stands to make any money off their "conversion" -- it's entirely a question of changing your diet on your own, no membership fees or subscriptions to anything needed. – Rose Sep 23 2011 at 23:27

There was one comment added recently where the person's response was "meds, excercise and prayer". Damn, man. I mean sure I don't know what the guy's issues are, but wow. That one hit me. – A at Grain Free Diet Sep 23 2011 at 23:50

That was fun. Especially once all those Tweets got through to the big guns. – none Sep 24 2011 at 2:32

My response to Dr. Oz:

I was not going to post because I never made it to "chronic conditions" outside of high blood pressure which I still take medicine for - but paleo living has made a tremendous impact in my quality of life and has kept me from getting some of those chronic conditions.

In February when I started eating paleo (it was a diet then, not anymore--it now influences how I approach the world and my place in it), I was 347 pounds. I am now 268. I did the Warrior Dash on January 30 and "ran" it in 55 minutes+. I did another 5K mud run in June and 'ran' it (a little less quotes, a little more actual running) in 36+ minutes.

Paleo gets a bad rap because the outside world views it as binge on meats and fatty foods. My view is more in line with the paleo community (and I hope they'll forgive me for speaking on their behalf): paleo eating is about removing foods that are C.R.A.P. (commercially refined, artificial, or poisonous) from your diet. I don't eat foods that come in boxes or bags. I don't eat grains (especially wheat), bad fats (seed oils), or legumes. I do eat lots of eggs and vegetables, some fruit, and a lot of meat-based protein. I eat far more vegetables now than when I was a "vegetarian" who ate mostly pasta.

Paleo to me also means sleeping, walking and standing more, trying to align my living with the way its meant to be. More time with family, playing, laughing and loving each other.

Prior to paleo, I was headed on a very unhealthy path towards the future. Not anymore.

Oh I like your "C.R.A.P" thing... I'm gonna use that. Nice response! – Andrea S. Sep 24 2011 at 15:19
Feel free.. I stole the line from primal-palate.com/2010/11/… and thought for a while about what it could mean.... – Eric Sep 24 2011 at 15:55

This might be the moment when Dr. Oz takes a closer look at Paleo! I didn't see any SAD answers there because there are no SAD answers to those problems. This pseudo question is useful info!

thanks! The more comments I read the more I wanted Paleohackers to be a part of it. The first section of comments (before Paleo showed up) had people that need to hear the message! – Andrea S. Sep 24 2011 at 0:48

Who's Dr. Oz? Watching TV isn't paleo.

Well maybe Simpsons and South Park now and then would be OK.

... or the Flintstones? ;) – A at Grain Free Diet Sep 24 2011 at 0:40
+1 for sure....daytime TV rocks! Only the best shows. – JayJay Sep 24 2011 at 4:13
I dunno...there's Ellen, who's funny but cries over puppies at the drop of a hat :) – Nemesis Sep 25 2011 at 2:04

I wrote a comment about how paleo eating helped clear up a bunch of problems for me. Although... I got aboslutely NO 'likes' even though all the ones areound me at are like 10-15 likes. I feel shunned. :( ...so I got my friend to 'like' my comment for me. I am so lame. :(

But I am really happy to see so many paleo people!!! :D

Did you respond as a page and not as a person? Because the exact same thing happened to me when I responded as a page and when I logged out my comment didn't exist. I deleted the comment and responded as my "Jane Karma" profile and it showed up right away. – A at Grain Free Diet Sep 24 2011 at 0:41
Er, I should add, it showed up right away and was still there when I logged out. That one got likes, so I know it shows up for others. – A at Grain Free Diet Sep 24 2011 at 0:44
facebook does something strange when you respond as a page. I think only people who "like" your page would be able to see it or something. – Andrea S. Sep 24 2011 at 0:50

Sadly, I am afraid the only ones paying attention to the thread/question on Dr Oz's FB page are the paleo people.....paaaleeeooo tribe.... At a certain point I think anyone unfamiliar with Paleo or anti paleo etc. just tune it out and stops reading the thread. I love all the passion I just wish we could find a better way to bottle it and get the word out. Dr. Oz - I don't see him doing anything outside of CW. For many reason, the biggest being it would be a PR nightmare for him. Did you see all the press on the recent apple juice and arsenic stories hitting the press. :( I know that is not the answer folks to see. I sound so pessimistic. LOL! ;)

I do hope someone reads it and tries something different then what CW tells them!

we're doing this thing, one person at a time. you influence you're sphere, i'll influence mine. like robb wolf said, we aren't going away. there'll just be more healthy people walking around with lower medical bills than everyone else. there's a tipping point... – luckybastard Sep 23 2011 at 23:32

I gave him my $0.02 for what it's worth, it was great seeing others do the same. That guy is such an idiot.

He's an idiot but he IS THE DOCTOR! He's very used to telling women what to do and they hang on his every word. Of course they follow the CW that he talks and you see what most of his fans look like on his show. He pretty much blew off Paleo in his Time article on nutrition with his comments about height and longevity after saying some goos things about it. It's fun being able to eat anything I want. I just want different food than the CRAP that other people choose. Nobody really cares much what I eat and I don't bother to comment about what others because it does no good. – Curmujeon Sep 24 2011 at 20:33
