Been Paleo for over a year and feeling good. Have been focusing on exercise (5 primal movements) for about 2 months now and been happy with the results. I'm 5'11, 165-170 (haven't weighed myself for about a month) and look pretty good except that I still have love handles and a bulge around my belly button. My wife has even mentioned that I look pretty good, but she doesn't understand why my abdominal area still looks about the same -- I agree!
Over the past year, I've gone 24 or 32 hours on a fast, just to add variety and I've dabbled with an eating window, but for the last week I've decided to really try and stick with an eating window by skipping breakfast and eating between 12 and 8 approx. Hoping that this little change will help the belly thing. I usually exercise fasted (when I can) but don't worry if I have to exercise later in the day.
And then I started reading about leptin resistance and wondering if that's the problem, but I am finding it hard to tell. I don't crave carbs really at all so that's not a problem. I try not to overeat, but I never count calories. Don't care about eating carbs as long as they are sweet potatoes or veggies, but I don't ever eat that much of that either. I do feel fatigue when I work out, but I kinda figure that is normal because I'm working out. I get between 8 and 9 hours of sleep a night.
Up to this point, I've been eating a big breakfast and three meals a day, but if I snacked in between I really didn't care. I'll make myself a coconut milk smoothie at night if my family is eating ice cream once a week. Like I said, who knows how many grams of carbs I am eating, but it can't be a lot. I have doing aerobic exercise for a long time and, like I said, just added the primal movements. My point is, I've been kinda doing the leptin reset thing, but certainly not strictly. Do you think, based on the belly fat, that I should try to do a strict leptin reset? Or, should I keep on focusing on doing the IF for awhile? What are your reasons for thinking one would work better than the other? Do you still need more diet info? Thanks for your suggestions!
