I love butter! Unfortunately I have been thinking about giving it up because I pretty much eat way way way too much of it ARGH!! I dont like the taste of GF meat and I am allergic to coconut products (other than oil ). So the bulk of fat comes from butter. i was wondering if anyone here has had SUCCESS lowering LDL or losing weight by ADDING butter to their diet?

Why don't you provide us with the article so that we can discuss the arguments? – Primordial Sep 30 2011 at 20:04

You're worried about your measured LDL?

Does your test account for the size of the LDL particles?

I am just wondering people's experiences. It seems (or maybe most the post I read) when LDL is high --butter is the 1st to go. – KL Sep 30 2011 at 19:51

Butter is insulinergic and I have found it doesn't contribute to fat loss. C-nut/C-oil/animal fat(low PUFA) does the job. I was down to 4%BF in the winter mainly incorporating c-nut/c-nut oil.

I've been heavy on GF butter and lard (and other saturated fats) since June and just did a check on 12/8 which showed my LDL at 98, HDL 71. My previous test 1.5 years ago with much less fat, and especially saturated fats, showed LDL at 102, HDL 65. So LDL edged downward, HDL upward and with a TC/HDL ratio of 2.87 I'm pickled tink and wouldn't change a thing - except for maybe a smidge more butter. Life is good.

The guy who did the test swooned over my HDL.

Edit added - Oh, and I dropped 11 pounds in the 6 months since June.
