Is the logic here solid - and should those of us vain about aging still cover up hands, arms, chest, and face to avoid the most obvious places where sun-damage-driven aging occurs?
oh im so bad about this. so bad. i was blessed with some good skin genes, and since im of middle eastern descent, i use that as an excuse to play fast and loose with the sun exposure. which is BAD. but, in the moment it feels so good. i live right at the beach, too and we have such a short summer in new england that i maybe over indulge a bit. i love being tan, but mostly i just love the feel of the sun on my face. i dont really burn except for a bit during the first exposure of the season, so its tempting to just lay in the sun all summer. i know ill pay later. part of me doesnt really care too much- im not super vain in my a-hem "middle-ish age" and fully embrace that im never going to look 16 again, but i still dont want to look like a train wreck, either. do i think its good to shield your face and chest and hands from too much sun damage? absolutely. do i listen to my own advice? yes, but only between october and april. ;)
isnt that what rosehip seed oil is for?
What? You've never seen an extreme sun-worshiper over 40 years old? They're the ones with the leather skin. So, yes, tan but don't be a nut about it and cover your face to minimize the leather look.
If you can get out of the sun or cover up BEFORE you burn then dont worry about every using sunscreen. If you have no choice than to stay out in the sun, the hats and clothing are better choices.
I guess I don't get the point of that. Why not just limit your sun exposure altogther? That sounds kind of like body builders who only work on the muscles they can see in the mirror and then neglect their little chicken legs. Why would you want a pretty face but your arms and legs are all leathery?
