I'm on day 27 of the Whole30 (with additional restrictions from DR and for Autoimmune). I've been specifically hoping that the Paleo lifestyle will help me address some muscle pain and weakness issues I've had for the last year. I have been anxious to get to the end of the 30 days and be able to add things in... With the hope of seeing how they impact me. The problem is, I don't feel like the symptoms I've been wanting to address have gone away/ changed.
The questions is-- Should I keep going until I see change? Knowing that just may not happen, how long is a decent go? I've been VLC Paleo since late May. The 27 days is with the addition of eliminating nuts, eggs, dairy (I had been doing butter and cream) and nightshade veggies. No cheats during the 27 days. I don't want to jump the gun on adding things back in, but I'm also growing very weary of the additional restrictions.
I would say give it more time, it takes months and years for us to mess up our bodies and as such it can take months or even years to heal properly, nothing happens overnight. My GI issues took around 3 years to heal, although I did drop weight and increase energy early on. Paleo is a life long Lifestyle not a short term diet of any kind.
