Please, someone tell me what is going on with me. I have been strict paleo for about 3 and a half months and have never felt better. I do CrossFit 3x per week, with a day of heavy lifting in there. I have been doing the 16/8 IF and training fasted for about 3 weeks. Over these past few months, I have seen INCREDIBLE changes in my health, body, strength and performance. However, while I have lost a good amount of weight (10-15 pounds), I can't seem to shake what I have come to think of as "stubborn body fat." I am not fat and the rest of my body is coming along nicely. My problem is that I don't know if what I have should be worked on as stubborn body fat. Maybe it is just loose skin and will require surgery? I have no one that I can ask that would know so I reach out to you. Hopefully, someone has experienced something similar. I don't eat a lot of sugar, moderate nuts and fruit, and LOTS of meat and veggies. I feel like my diet is pretty on point and I just can't figure out what gives. A few more points: I get enough sleep and can't think of anything that would raise my cortisol levels. I also give myself plenty of time to recover between workouts. Thanks.

Rick that is skin. Give your body some time to re-drape the skin over your new body. Just keep doing what you're doing and try not to bend over at the waist in front of a full-length mirror for a while. – Shari Bambino Oct 6 2011 at 3:07

Plus one shari....add topical and oral coconut oil to areas and high dose k2, resveratrol, and turmeric......and if you can find some caprylic acid.....score. – The Quilt Oct 6 2011 at 3:25

That is definitely skin. I bet it doesn't look like that when you are standing up straight. – Sue R. Oct 6 2011 at 4:00

@Quilt: Yes, please elaborate. I was thinking that I wasn't the only one that has something like this, and any extra information would be helpful for me at the very least. And Shari, I'll try to stay away from odd angles and mirrors for a bit :) – Rick Justice Oct 6 2011 at 4:19

k2 is not topical. those were separate statements. coconut oil topically and orally. The others just orally. #quiltdecoder – No more. Oct 6 2011 at 4:46

Like the others have said, it's skin, not fat.

Skin is surprisingly resilient and elastic, especially when you're younger (which you appear to be). I lost a considerable amount of weight, too, and had the same issue. It gradually went away, so I'm pretty sure yours will, too. :)

I've got something similar, but not quite so dramatic, having lost 40 lbs - maybe because my loss was spread over 6 months instead of 3, and I've maintained it for half a year (so it's slowly going away?)...

I like Shari's advice. And I suppose Quilt might have some insight worth paying attention to.

yep, skin! Loss of fat will do that. Definitely keep the skin as moist as you can and keep exercising, time is what you need!

Not sure if it will work, but pregnant women after having a baby will go buy a wrap with Velcro that they put tightly around this area for weeks, its to help the skin adhere back to the body. they wear it day and night for a few months and they swear by it. (I never heard of this for my pregnancies but my friends do it).

Its similar to a girdle effect but its a wrap, although any body hugging suit should work as long as there is consistent pressure. (be careful of things that have seams and leave marks on the skin)

Yup. Looks like skin to me too. Just keep doing what you are doing. Give it some time.
