Just heard of the movie Quest for Fire and it got me thinking, there must be a few kickass movies out there about primitive or paleolithic life. Any favorite action-adventure type movies?

+1 for a good question but mostly because you are a girl asking it! – saiklón Oct 9 2011 at 1:56
Well I know you searched for "movie," but you didn't search for the tag "film." paleohacks.com/questions/15501/… Shame on you Rockgrrl! Just joking, I vote to leave this up unless someone disagrees. But note that the answer to your question is "Walkabout" and Ben already gave us that one, so ..... – Paul Oct 9 2011 at 9:38
Us girls, always asking poorly researched questions... Maybe this post should be about pop paleo "movies"... and the film post should be about sophisticated "films" :) – Rockgrrl Oct 9 2011 at 22:33

Fantastic movie. – Dorado Galore Oct 9 2011 at 15:12
I was enthralled by it, it was a great flick. – Matt Oct 9 2011 at 16:31
I submitted this to the other movie post and got downvotes. – Wozza Oct 12 2011 at 8:57

This isn't out yet, but the Hunger Games movie will be a good one. In the book, Katniss has to hunt and gather for her family to survive, because the grain that their government has given them is so nutritionally poor that everyone is slowly starving to death.

Excellent novel. Hopefully the film director will get it right. – Dorado Galore Oct 9 2011 at 15:13

where is all the voicces lovely asking? – sherpamelissa Oct 9 2011 at 12:19
I loved that movie, thought of mentioning it, but I don't don't remember any emphasis on paleo there. Modern aborigines, modern Aussies, but I gotta see it again. – Huey Oct 9 2011 at 19:39
It was in the 30s I think. Traditional (primitive?) culture being overtaken by colonial Westerners. Little kids who run away across the outback from the orphanage and manage to live off the land along the way. They do this twice. I could care less about the big hollywood production. This was real life! – none Oct 9 2011 at 20:03

Yor: Hunter From the Future.

He's a modern person living a paleo lifestyle, does all his own hunting, drinks blood and eats organ meat, and gets plenty of sun.

Am I the only person who's seen this horrible movie?

That movie is legendary. – Futureboy Oct 9 2011 at 7:49
sounds way rad! – Rockgrrl Oct 9 2011 at 22:34

We recently saw Kirikou & and Sorceress and Kirikou and the Wild Beasts - they're both animated and in French, but have strong paleo themes. I thoroughly enjoyed both!

"Harry and Tonto." '70s era movie that has zero to do with diet and everything to do with living an authentic life. Art Carney plays a retired Shakespeare teacher whose apartment building gets torn down so he goes on an odyssey with his cat (Tonto. Visits his mixed up adults kids scattered around the country. Great script, excellent musicla score, director Paul Mazursky at his finest.

Art Carney is the prototype for Barney Rubble, so he's maybe a second cousin of Grok. – thhq Dec 19 2011 at 21:19

This was just released on NetFlix; Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead (2010) Focusing on two men whose bodies have been trashed by steroids, obesity and illness, this documentary chronicles the rigorous healing path -- including a two-month diet of fruits and vegetables -- that both attempt in a bid to rescue their health. Cast: Joe Cross, Phil Riverstone Director: Joe Cross Genre: Documentary Format: DVD and streaming Not rated. This movie has not been rated by the MPAA.

For pure camp watch the goofy Caveman starring Ringo as "poor, lovesick Atouk -- the smallest and weakest caveman of his tribe."

Documentaries don't exactly qualify as action adventure movies. They're filed under "religious films, non gladiator". – thhq Dec 19 2011 at 21:14
