I just started Paleo about 2 months ago. I have lost some weight, but seem to be on a plateau right now. I am less hungry that I used to be, and eating smaller amounts, but my bowel movements are very inconsistent, slow, and sluggish. I have tried taking magnesium supplements, but that only works sporadically. I am also bloated. Any feedback would be appreciated - thank you!

Yeah I had the same issues. I added probiotics like GT Kombucha, Kefir and more fermented foods like Kim-chi Sauerkraut and Greek yogurt along with magnesium supplements and everything is working out much better. |

This is now and was a problem for me before paleo. I find that Kimchi and/or Kombucha by GT works well. There are now two versions. one that they sell that you have to have an ID for because of the higher levels of alcohol due to fermentation...(still extremely LOW overall alcohol) but it seems to work well for me.. I only drink about 1/3 of the bottle for two days and I get relief without cramps, pain or diarrahea |

The first thing that I do when I wake up in the morning is drink a liter of water. That gets things going for me. Are you drinking plenty of water? |

I make kombucha, fermented salsa, fermented ginger-carrots, sauerkraut, these have helped a lot over the years to add probiotics to our diet. |

I can also be bloated even if I don't eat a lot. Have you tried digestive enzymes? |

eastvillagepaleo, I had similar problems when I started paleo too. I agree with Theresa about adding some fermented foods to your diet like kimchi and kombucha. I added homemade milk kefir to my diet and my digestion and bowels improved greatly and no longer have those problems you mentioned. Fermented foods adds beneficial bacteria to your diet and improves your gut flora. |
