Before I started Paleo, I was using ON's 100% Natural Whey. I was recommended to try Hydrolyzed Whey, as it supposedly doesn't cause any of the problems that come with dairy products (claim of Popeye's Supplements Canada employee).

Has anybody with a diary intolerance tried Hydrolyzed Whey? Any discomfort or problems using it?

I think they're trying to get you to spend more money. ON-brand Hydrolyzed whey is nearly twice the price of ON-brand all natural whey (checking Amazon.com). Supplement store employees use so much broscience and are on the level of used-car salesmen (anything-to-make-a-sale attitude).

The real question is: are you having trouble with your current source of whey? If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Yea, I can't handle the ON Natural anymore. Tried a few types, same problem. Apparently hydrolyzing removes all the milk constituents and leaves the amino acids (as it's advertised). I'm looking to hear if anyone with a post-paleo dairy intolerance has tried this. – karimoo Oct 13 2011 at 20:29

I have an I've found that I tend to do pretty well, but if I know my gut's been a little abused lately I'll pop a lactaid tablet before I take the shake...tends to even out most of the potential trouble.

Another option, if you're brave and want to try something newish, is the hydrolyzed collagen protein. I've tasted it a few times, but never personally used it while training.

I used to suffer with acne for more than 6 years... it came and go but primal gave me the best looking clear skin since I got my first pimple.

A tiny pimple or whitehead will pop up here and there. However, my time in Hawaii has been amazing. I've been here for just over 3 weeks and I strongly believe the sun has been a huge factor. I've been making a lot of smoothies with whey but they have not done any damage.

Pre primal, I used to drink a lot of milk and once I cut just that out my skin improved a lot. Their is a strong connection between dairy and acne but I personally do ok with whey and butter. Cheese kills me (casein).
