I looked this up but didn't find any thing related to this question in this way. I was curious if any one knows if adrenal fatigue is more common than is being diagnosed in the SAD diet, and it just isn't being recognized? Are paleolites more apt to noticing their decent into adrenal fatigue? Or is there any chance low carb/ paleo eating could be causing this fatigue? I recently have been cutting back on caffeine, which makes me feel exhausted, though I am pretty sure its just the caffeine I also find I may have other symptoms of adrenal fatigue but have been eating decently (not perfect) paleo for a few months now. I especially find that I run out of energy around 3 or 4 and then perk back up after 7 which is SUPER lame. Thanks guys!

I think people's adrenal glands are shot more likely than not these days. Our adrenals are meant to fire off in response to life threatening situations, and take a full 24 hours to recover. We have so many simulated life and death situations these days via the media and crowded living conditions, etc. that our adrenals glands are firing off much more often than they have evolved to handle. This is a major factor in our society's viewing of menopause as a disease. A woman's adrenal glands are designed to take back the sex hormone responsiblity at menopause, but if they are shot from a lifetime of neglect, the woman suffers immensely. For me, the biggest tool I have in supporting healthy adrenals next to diet is prioritizing sleep. |

I used to be a major caffeine addict, and had adrenal fatigue for quite some time. I cut it out completely a few years back. Now, depending on my diet, insulin levels and exertion amount my energy levels can fluctuate. If I over exercise or eat a ton of carbs, I tend to notice an onset of fatigue. But being Paleo has definitely helped me control it and slowly reverse it as well. I can very well control my energy now keeping low carb, high fat and using an insulin mimicker on carb loading days. I found after keeping my insulin levels steady, that late afternoon/early evening plunge in energy and the adrenal burst that follows it a few hours later, doesn't occur anymore. My energy is completely constant now, and I'm loving it. |
