How do I fix adrenal exhaustion?

flag
How does one know when he/she has adrenal exhaustion? I have searched online but haven't found answers to my satisfaction. Thanks. – Anonymous Chump Oct 15 2011 at 19:07
I don't believe that adrenal exhaustion is clinically defined, which means you will find varied and sometimes ambiguous descriptions of it. Since it is an ailment of a holistic nature, it may take a while for institutionalized practices to recognize/accept a common definition of it. – Tony May 21 2012 at 21:53

hmm, what will happen once you start taking vitamin C and B vitamins, start feeling a little better, then drop them? Because I've done this and basically you become addicted to taking vitamin C and B, is it really good? – new user Oct 16 2011 at 14:12

You could use an adaptogen like phosphatidylserine to resensitize your hypothalmic-pituitary-adrenal axis to cortisol and reduce overproduction underproduction cycling. The theory I put forward is that Grok got to eat brains once or twice a month which is a rich source of PS, but very few of us eat brains now - see:

for more details on selecting the type of PS to take. I use the Enzomatic Sharp PS Gold (conjugated DHA) encapsulated by a few different brands, but there are better forms starting to enter the market.

phosphatidylserine isn't an adaptogen but is often a good idea for those with adrenal related HPA dysfunction. There are two main types of adrenal dysfunction. Hypercortisol secretion and hypocortisol cortisol secrition. Make sure the herbs you take are associated with the sort of adrenal fatigue you have. – No more. Apr 20 2012 at 21:13

The book Primal Body - Primal Mind by Nora Gedgaudas has an excellent section on explaining and addressing adrenal fatigue/exhaustion.

Underground Wellness also has a podcast on it: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/undergroundwellness/2010/10/07/the-truth-about-adrenal-fatigue-with-dr-bryan-walsh
