What's the perfect paleo food for ultimate survival?
What single food choice would give you the most nutrients, vitamins, and minerals?

Ben~ You already asked this in your other question, no? – Dragonfly Oct 15 2011 at 16:52
I got it deleted. Thanks for pointing that out. :P I guess I was really curious. – Ben Nash Oct 15 2011 at 17:11
I don't understand the question, really... – Korion Oct 15 2011 at 17:52

No thought required--BEEF! Everything else I enjoy occasionally, but I never get sick of beef. – Nance Oct 15 2011 at 18:26

Eggs - perfect fat to protein, so many nutrients, satisfying. Eggs for sure.

Seconded. Get crackin' :P – karimoo Oct 15 2011 at 20:26
Eggs are awesome. Super easy to cook and super fast! – Abaestuo Oct 15 2011 at 21:00
This is not a good idea and I cant believe this got accepted. If all you ate was maintenance calories of eggs for the rest of your life you'd die of vitamin a poisoning – foreveryoung Jan 3 at 0:51
And you'd be vitamin c deficient amd develop scurvy and also probably gout. Root vegetables make the most sense but then again were omnivores so this question is ridiculous. – foreveryoung Jan 3 at 0:54

I think if I could only eat one food for the rest of my life then I would just want something I liked and wouldn't make me want to stop eating all together, so my choice is ice cream. :)

An added benefit: your life would be short, so you wouldn't have time to get bored. – Huey Oct 15 2011 at 18:26

Actually I think you might be able to go quite a while on ice cream. – Edward J. Edmonds Oct 15 2011 at 18:34

You should probably read the question again. – karimoo Oct 15 2011 at 20:28

I read the question karimoo. I realize ice cream wouldn't give me the most nutrition, I don't really care. – sherpamelissa Oct 16 2011 at 3:32

Ben N Jerry's from grassfed cows with so many other ingredients that you don't notice the pieces of organs in there to fortify it. THAT IS HOW YOU SURVIVE ON ICE CREAM – maryeeclarkisouthunting Oct 16 2011 at 15:47

Wild Salmon or fat cuts of Bison.

Not exactly one food, but one source-grassfed beef, the whole animal, of course including plenty of bone broth.

Does a whole cow count?

If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, I would go for a nice meaty stew of some sort, full of all sorts of veggies, tubers, animal parts (bones, connective tissue, meat, fat), and herbs/spices.

Something like this!

(Not totally "Paleo", but this pic came from a recipe for Osso Buco Beef Shank and Roasted Marrow Bones)

it's the first time I've heard someone saying he loves beef liver to death. It's a very strong taste. – Paul Oct 16 2011 at 18:08

Some tuber. Most likely Japanese sweet potato.

I never got into the bacon thing. Growing up I ate it normally so I guess I don't feel like I need a lot of it nowadays. Too salty – ben61820 Oct 16 2011 at 1:20

Roasted white potatoes as long as I could have butter and salt.

Swedish sylta - a.k.a. head cheese. It's got lots of stray butchering bits and pieces molded into a block of suet or something. I remember being forced to try it as a kid, it's one of those ethnic dishes that show up every year around christmastime. It grossed me out. Hey, I'm American, love taco bell, don't gimme this crap from the old country! Well, now I'm starting to see the wisdom of it, of course. Nose-to-tail eating in one single chunk of greasy heaven! I'm gonna try it again with gusto this season. And the lutefisk, too. Yeach! I bet I'll love it now.

Since this is a fantasy question with no health consequences I'd choose evil gluten spaghettis with nut-pesto.

Otherwise a whole cow is the only sane answer, imho!

Based on the title alone I'd say chocolate cake, because for me eating chocolate and sugar is an orgasmic experience. Admittedly it would be a short life.

But after you qualified it in your post I'd say innards of all kinds--liver, heart, kidney, etc.

Ribeye smothered in mushrooms and butter.

For fantasy? My grammies "fruit of the farm" pie, which she literally made using whatever was on the trees, in the ground or on bushes in her yard/garden. Pear, apple, cherry, strawberry, blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, etc.

For realsies? Ramen broth made from konbu, shiitake, chicken, pork bones, smoked bacon, scallions, onion, carrots, mirin. If I could have a soft boiled egg in there, too, that would be nice and complete the dish.. so.. as it's all contained in one bowl.. then I think Ramen broth with a soft egg counts as one thing.

Yep.

A whole cow plus milk

I'd say bacon, but that might not let me live as long as I'd like.

Let's go with.... uh....... I don't know, milk or something. Milk mixed with a raw egg and minced salmon!

Evaporated milk

coconut - meat, milk, water

Potatoes. They have sustained many through famines...not perfect, but close.

honestly, eating only one food for the rest of your life will not give you all the nutrients you need to thrive... so i'm ignoring the second part of the question because it really doesn't matter.

but one paleo food that i love is medjool dates! they are my favorite and at least i'd be in heaven for the short time i'd be alive.

Going by taste alone I would willingly and happily subsist on nothing but sushi rolls wrapped in tempura with spicy sauce (CRUNCH ROLL!!!!!)

Need to think of a paleo crunch roll.

haha that is definitely not paleo – joanna Jan 3 at 2:13
